| why are people still leaving their dogs tied up outside! I dont understand it why are people still tying their dogs and leaving them outside of restaurants and such. If your dog cannot go with you inside of a establishment dont take them with you ! I dont know how many dogs are going to have to go missing before someone realizes that there are cruel people in this world!!!! http://www.nydailynews.com/news/crim...d_on_up-3.html

| The only time I have tied mine up outside was when we went to a fall festival and My Fathr in law had a booth and we tied them outside his booth but he was with them when we werent. There is no way I would tie them then go in a store or something like that

| I don't think it's nice. But then again, people can't be like dogs... they always mix love and hate- dogs (and puppies!) are always loyal. P.s. I am new at Yorkie Talk, I joined yesterday! I have one regular yorkie named Juliet and she will be bred in a year or so! She has her tail docked, any views on that? When she has puppies should I dock thier tails? How?

| Hello and welcome, although I am new also. I found the site while researching a genetic disease my female has. We did not know she was a carrier, she is a purebred AKC registered yorkie, until we bred her with our male. Also a purebred Yorkie. Her puppies were born with the disease hypotrichosis, which simply means their heads, ears and abdomens are bald and hair will never grow. We now have 5 dogs and have no idea what we are going to do. No one wants Yorkies with this disease even though we are giving them away. My point is, I would really think hard about breeding your baby. Breeding is something that should be left to trained and knowledgeable people. It is much more difficult than the average person knows. Believe me, I learned the hard way. We planned on only doing it once and then only because we wanted one more puppy and could not really afford the big price for another. Unfortunately, once was all it took for heartbreak. In all this, I did learn enough to answer your question regarding the tails being docked. They should be done by a VET when they are 2-4 days old. I know that knowledgeable breeders do them themselves, but again, people who really do not know what they are doing should not dock the tails. I wish you good luck, but sincerely hope you will rethink the breeding process. |

As for the dogs tied up outside of restaurants, thats just mean. Leave your pooch at home if your going to go somewhere they can't go in with you. | |

No Longer a Member | OK...I can understand someone leaving maybe their Rottweiler or German Shephard for a minute or two to pop into a convenience store or something. A dog like that can probably pretty much take care of itself, KWIM? But to leave two small dogs like that while she goes to a restaurant, and wearing LV leashes... she was practically asking for a kidnap/ransom situation. What an idiot! |

| Seriously though, who leaves their dogs tied up in NY outside of a resturant. Did they honestly expect no one to snatch them up while they had lunch for a 1/2 hour. $1 isn't safe on the streets of NY.. let alone 2 dogs. Some people are just so stupid...but what can you expect from someone who maked a living nekked. lol.

| okay.i feel really sad for her but at the same time it was so stupid of her to just leave her babies outside. what was she thinking? Whenever we are in the NYC and eating out, we always bring Tumi in the restaurant with us in her carrier. Well, we are lucky she loves her bag and sleeps in there quietly. but we would never leave her outside alone. We always choose the the places where they have outdoor seating so she can be with us while we eat. If we know we are going somewhere where we can't bring her in, we just leave her at home. gosh, this is sad..i hope they find her babies. |
