Default 10 months and still pooping on rug!

I took all the carpet up, put ceramic down last month. I have 1 runner, and one other rug by the back door, and thats it! All the other rugs are still put away.

She'd been doing great till the past 4-5 days. I started noticing poop on the runner rug by the front door! GRRRRR.......

I was thinking about a room size rug, but no way with her doing this am I spending money for that!

Least she's not peeing on my new ceramic! Knocking on wood here!

Bout to give up here. I am at home all day, and nights with both of them. Let them out anytime they want to go out. Usually about 6+ times during the day, and at night too. I also have 3 pee pads in the house too, which she will use for pee, and sometimes poop.

I had to get rid of the carpet, cause she'd peed so many times on it, if I wasn't a smoker, probably would smell pee. I'd put several things on it to get the smell out, but she'd go to same 3 places and do it again.

About to give up here.

Can you temporarily remove the rug from the door? If this is the exit/entry where she goes potty, try putting a potty bell there and train her to ring it when she needs to go.

POTTY BELLS really DO WORK... We trained Penny with potty bells when we lived in our motorhome and she learned in less than a week and whenever she had to go, she rang the bells. It worked great!! But you must be consistant and everytime you take her out you ring the bells loudly and she will get the idea.

Gracie will poo on the rug, but only after she poos on the pee pad. It's like "I'm not done and I can't go THERE again!".

I had a similar issue with one of my cats pooping on the rug next to the front door. I tried using a spray repellent called Boundary. It did nothing. I finally gave up and took away the rug. Problem solved, at least with regard to the cat.

I've heard people talking about litter box training. Do you think that might work?

I have all 3 pee pads in a litter box. And there is a bell on the back door. The rug is by the front door.

She will ring the bell, 5 minutes after she comes in. She seems to love outside, more than inside.

Looks like I will be taking the rug up!

I have one female that does both on the pee pad, she is such a good girl. My other girl pees on her pee pad, but poos on the linoleum in the kitchen right next to the pee pad. She's a good girl too. My boy wears a belly band and poos behind the recliner (on carpet) or down the hall (on carpet) where no one will see him. He's a good boy too. I guess what I'm trying to say is some get it, some don't. We can do all we can to keep the stains, smells..etc at bay, but we can't let it get to us so bad or we'll be frustrated all the time. I do know I will be changing flooring in the future because of this issue, but I love my dogs too much to get too upset about it.
I do hope you can find something that works for you so you won't be upset.

My Daisy turned 1 in January. She is just getting to the point where she is mostly trustworthy with her potty training. We take her out all of the time though. She still has the occaisional accident-but they are becoming few and far between. Just be consistant and patient-but it is difficult! Good luck!

I have installed a little door that was made for cats in my wall that goes into the garage and made them their own little private "Potty Palace". That was the smell doesn't stick around IN the house. It's really easy to put in. The wall was only about 4 or 5 inches thick and I made sure there wasn't any wiring behind the sheet rock. I also installed some old foam padding in the wall that the puppies walk through so the aren't exposed to the insulation.

On the other side, I made the "Palace" itself and pushed it up against the wall so they can just walk right in and right back out. It took them a while to get used to being able to walk through the door, but they got it now. Inside I have a 12 fluorescent lite on so they can see and my Mother made some minature posters for them to look at kinda like tehy are cards from other Yorkies. I know it sounds cheesy, but they like it. On top of their palace is a hinged door so the news papers can be changed daily.

Love We know where to pee but not where to poop...

My husband and I both work during the day. My two girls are home alone during the day. Both use a pee pee pad for peeing. That is great. When I am home we take them outside. I just can't expect them to hold themselves all day because I don't think I could. Peeing is no problem. My Emily Kate has watched me go to the bathroom and use the toilet. She gets up on her hind feet and looks in the toilet. She knows poop goes in the toilet but just can't get it there. She poops near the toilet every time. Alyssa on the other hand has no clue. She just poops whereever!!!! I have tried liter boxes, too.
She is now starting to use the bathroom outdoors. I am really proud. I think things will go better this summer when I am here all of the time.

Default double the time outside

If I understand your post correctly, she poops outdoors then comes in and poops again on the rug. Put her on a leash and walk her around until she poops. If she heads back for the inside, keep her outside for 10-15 more minutes. Even if she pulls and indicates she wants to go inside, keep her walking. If she does another poop outside praise her, make a big fuss and give her a treat. If she doesn't poop, bring her back in and watch her like a hawk. Leave the leash on, and the second she looks like she's going to poop, take her outside again. It sounds like she has a little too much run of the house. Did you ever crate her?

Reagan doesn't use a bell she just scratches on the door, she never quite got the hang of a bell. Anyway she used to do this too, asked to go out constantly to play. She would ask to go out to potty too, but more often than not it was just to play. What you could try is when she rings the bell take her out on a leash to go potty. Don't let her play around, after however long, with Reagan she goes very fast on command so 5 minutes would be more than enough for us, bring her back in whether she has gone or not. Then in addition to that pick a couple times (or how many times you are willing to let her) to go outside to play. I would try to keep those times consistent for a while. Like everday at 11 and 3 or whatever for however long works for you. This way maybe she'll learn that the bell is only for potty and that you are still going to let her have outside time.

As far as the pooping on the floor. This is what we had the hardest time with on Reagan. She got peeing but popping just didn't click. For the most part she was going outside but like every couple days she would go inside. Then one day it just clicked. The only times that she would go inside was when it was completely and utterly our fault. A couple nights ago my husband and I were at the computer and she came up and scratched at me a couple of times. Well the computer is in the guest bedroom beside the guest bed and she usually does this to get up on the bed and lay down while I'm in here. So anyway that night I didn't want her up there and ignored her well she actually needed out and was coming to tell us and ended up going poop right beside my husband and I. Completely our fault. This was the first time that she had gone inside in oh well probably since Christmas at least.

Don't get discouraged I promise it will happen. One day the accidents will get further and further apart and finally one day you won't really be able to remember when was the last time. Although I will say it's usually about the time that you finally allow yourself to brag on her a bit that she has another accident, or at least this is the way it always was with Reagan. I'd tell my husband Reagan hasn't gone inside in I can't remember when then lo and behold two days later I get a surprise. Just keep trying, I really did feel like you as far as the pooping went, and just one day it happened for us. She'll get it.
