| Obedience Classes Hello everyone!! I have an 11 week old puppy and I wanted to take her to training classes, does anyone know what age is best to take her? She already knows her name I taught her to come and sit but will like her to be more socialized. Do you think 11 weeks is too soon?? TIA

| Hi, My puppy is 11 weeks old as well, and I will be taking him to obedience classes too! I've been doing some research, and usually the minimum is around 4 months for group classes. Unless you want a puppy kindergarten type thing, or a trainer that comes to your house. Also, has he had his shots? Mickey is 11 weeks, and will be getting his last set in about two weeks. I will probably sign up for a class in or around the end of april/beginning of May. Do you know what class/program you will be using? I am from NY also... I was thinking this one... http://www.whoswalkingwhodogtraining.com/ but I havent made a decision. Let me know if you have an suggestions. How long have you had your puppy? I think it is GREAT that you've taught him to sit and come already! Mickey knows his name, and is starting to get come... but only when he wants which is unacceptable.... He has selective hearing! I've only had him for a week though, and we are getting there! Good luck!! |

Phantom Queen Morrigan Donating Member | most training places won't allow puppies without the rabies vaccine. I would wait till then anyway because i wouldn't want to expose my pup to anything that its not protected against.

| I'm really enjoying the puppy training classes at PetSmart! The pups need to be between 3-5 months, and they do require certain vaccinations. I love that Tia gets to interact with other dogs and people!
