| No, no table scraps for my crew... you could try feeding him when you sit down to eat (his own food) or just before you eat. Maybe he's just hungry...

| Never.... and people eat FIRST.... ignore it, don't even shh her/him ... just go on eating, if they jump up, push them down, unceremoniously.... and continue... I sit on the couch to eat (I know...bad), with no fewer than 3 sleeping on the couch with me, no one even looks at my plate! Sounds like they have been rewarded, for the barking, with food or attention.. so it may be slow, but it will work. If you can't ignore...crate... Good luck

| Jaeger used to do that some, and we curtailed it in a way some may not agree with. We're also not really table-eaters, so we let him sit on the bed with us as long as he's not trying to get at the food. If he can see us, he's calmer. If he lays down and acts uninterested the entire time we're eating, he gets the last bite from my plate (as long as its dog friendly food.) It took a little while, but he knows now if he's calm and 'disinterested' he gets rewarded for it. Feeding him at the same time didn't work for us-he inhales his food. Feeding him close to the same time every day and using a timer to let him know when dinner was did help. I would also suggest a treat he can have to keep himself busy only when you are eating-himalayan chew, antlers, a bully stick, a filled kong. |
