| Backpacks Has anyone tried a backpack? Probably not because this is the Yorkie forum and they are too little; but thought I'd ask anyway! I have tried one on Ringo and he is AWFUL with it. He hates it; won't walk . . makes me so mad. I would love for him to wear one on some of our walks to carry the little water packets (and my cell phone); AND because it is supposed to really tire him out on a walk. Believe me, Ringo needs to be tired when he comes home. He's my Westie and he's simply a handful. So if anyone has gotten their dog used to carrying a small backpack ~ appreciate your advice!

| Never tried it! But I've always wanted to. I think Ringo would look totally adorable carrying around his little backpack. I would just assume it takes some time? Maybe reward him every time the backpack comes out to start... then slowly begin putting it on him, and then taking it right back off, and then eventually walking more with it. Bring out his favorite treats for this!

| I found a very small backpack/harness for Peek a Boo a few years ago. He has no problem wearing it because he's a clothes horse... he loves getting dressed up! So I believe he thinks it's just a different kind of shirt or something. Does Ringo wear shirts at all?

| I know for a fact if i tried one on Pasquale he'd stop dead in his tracks and give me the look of "Are you freakin' kiddin' me lady? Carry your own crap!!" LoL

I think I'm going to put it on him just around the house for a few minutes here and there ~ with some treats as Brit suggested. The first couple of times he wore it on a walk, he was FINE with it. But I guess he has determined that he does not like it! I actually got the idea years ago from watching the Dog Whisperer, and just never tried it. It's supposed to make him really focus during walk but all he focuses on is how much he hates it. Then I got the bright idea of ~ why should I carry around the poop bags until we find a trash can ~ when I can stuff them in Ringo's backpack? Hmm. Maybe that was the beginning of the end.
