| suddenly pottying in crate Okay, so Piper has had a hard time with potty training recently. I have gone back to basics and place her In her pen with a pad every two hours. She has done fine with this and has only had a handful of accidents in the last week. I feel there has been good progress and I have been so happy with the whole process. Last night she went to her crate around midnight. This morning at 8am she Peed in her crate. A few nights ago she pooped in her crate at 2:30 am. Today I penned her and she went both. Then we left so she went in her crate at noon. I got home at 3pm and she had pooped and peed in her crate. I am at a loss. I just have no idea what to do. I love her so much. She has been cleared by the vet so this should just be a training thing. Please help. :-(

| Do you feed her on a schedule or is she free to eat at any time? I have found that feeding on a schedule really helps. Hopefully someone with more advice will come along with some other words of encouragement!

| Is her crate maybe too big? Smaller is better for crate training or that's what I've been told. |

| This is very true. In fact, when I got Raley, someone gave me a kennel. I could not figure out why he was still going potty in the back of it. Then I read a training book that said a kennel should only be large enough for them to lie in, stand up and turn around. I went straight to the store and bought the appropriate size and he never went potty in his kennel again. On the other hand, my daughter's yorkie puppy will still go potty in her kennel if she eats after 7PM and doesn't potty before kenneling up at bedtime.
