| Puppy Pad to Outdoor Training So excited to go meet our little guy tomorrow night. He's still with the breeder and will be until next month. I'm sure I will get a better idea of his training situation when I see it, but it sounds like he is puppy pad training only. I plan to crate/outdoor train him since I am home all day. The breeder recommended taking puppy pads outside to let him go on those while transitioning him to outdoors. Anyone have any other experience with this? |

| I am in the middle of making the transition with Raley! Due to our brutally cold winter last year (I got him in January) I decided to pad train him. He pad trained with no problem. About a month ago I decided to begin the transition to outdoors. For the first 2 weeks he did NOTHING. I even took a used pee pad outside to his potty area so he could smell it. I scattered his poop around the area, too. Well, a couple of weeks ago I decided to try something else. Since he is kennel trained I decided that when I first let him out of his kennel in the morning that I would take him outside. It worked like a charm. He has only used his pee pad about 3 times in the last week. He is doing well with going outside. I have however spent several hours on this being persistent. Good luck!!! Also, don't forget, treat him and praise him each and every time he goes potty!!
