| Any suggestions?!!! Hi yorkie lovers, I have a 4 lb yorkie (female, 3 years old). I try to get her play with toys but she rather play with people. She doesn't seem interested playing with toys. I think part of the problem is that she has an unusually small mouth. I have seen and played with many yorkies and all their mouths seem to be bigger than my little szaz's mouth. Does anyone else have a Yorkie with a small mouth? Thought of her being home alone without any entertainment while I am at work makes me feel so sad. Any suggestions with toys or some other source of entertainment when I am not home? I already have small ropes, balls, and squeaky toys but she doesn't play with any of them. Marilyn |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | Cali is 3.5 lbs but only 6 months old and has a tiny mouth but she loves toys, all kinds. My pom who is almost 9 years old never was much for playing with toys and she weighs 12.5 lbs. maybe it's just her personality to be more sophicticated!

| I think you are right Patti. I think it's just her personality. I was thinking of getting another dog so Szaz has someone to play with. I can't think of anything else to keep her entertained when I am not home. It just makes me sad to think Szaz is all alone doing nothing. |

| Gus will play alone sometimes but the majority of the time he will only play with his toys with someone. I feel the same as you, if I had to leave him during the day I would get him a playmate.

| It sounds like your little one likes attention to toys. I had a chihuahua who didn't care for toys until I got one of my yorkies...then it was competition for toys. He still prefered people to toys. My vet said he matured faster and was not as playful but it made him better behaved in some ways. He was not distructive or messy. He would cuddle and was quiet. I almost missed the idea of him having the baby stage but he passed it or rather skipped it completely. It doesn't necessarily mean anything is wrong. He did play some with the yorkie baby when I got her. I think he prefered living moving animals to non moving objects. He also liked watching tv or when I left the radio on...it was funny...Good luck with your little one... :c)

| Yorkies are funny that way. They are strong willed and have a mind of their own. If you ever find a toy that she likes, then look out, she will probably be obsessed. |

| What about old socks? My three LOVE socks. Chattie and Peppy also love love love the Dr. Noy's Tiny Squeaky toys. Peppy's personal favorite is the teddy bear and Chattie likes the froggie. |

| Maybe the TV will prove to be good entertainment for her? Maybe animal planet? or Cartoon network? I leave the History Channel on for my African Grey parrot! He loves it! And helps fill the air... They need the stimulation.

Senior Yorkie Talker | Kaytlyn will play but only with certaing things. Her mouth is super small and she just can't get anything in her mouth. The best thing I found for her are beanie babies. She loves to carry then around and they are very easy for her to get in her mouth. Kayt doesn't realize she is a dog and won't play with anything that is for dogs...lol...That could be the case with your baby.

| Thanks everyone. Perhaps my little one has not found the right toy yet. I will get her some more small toys. Although, maybe my baby has already "matured" and she is too sophisticated for toys. Who knows?!!! I'll try to get her more of a variety and see how it is. Marilyn |

| I have yet to see a doggie that will play for very long by themselves unless they are chewing on something. Usually they want someone to play with.

| YorkieUSA, I know that some dogs don't play alone. I can't get my yorkie to play even when I am trying to play with her. She doesn't seem to chew on anything. |

| Does keeping the tv or radio on really help? I mean how can you tell that it is stimulating your dog? |
