| Any experienced breeders up? If any very experienced breeders are up I could use some help!! We are having pups tonight it is early on day 59 for my girl. She has had 4 pups and I really had to work on one to save it. She seems to be doing well now. They are all pretty good size. The first four came within 2 hrs and now she has stopped labor. I can tell there is at least one more in there but no movement and no pushing. I tried feathering her but nothing. She has part of a water sack out but it is twisted and I cannot feel a puppy anywhere close to it. I think it is part of the previous pup because the last placenta did not come out. I gave her some nutri drops and calsorb. She is comfortable but wondering how I could start her labor. I am worried about this other pup or 2. Thanks in advance. |

| I know I am talking to myself but the part of the water sack sticking out was from the last pup she pushed it out finally with the placenta. Still at least one pup left. Haven't felt much movement and no good contractions. Worried. |

| How long has it been since she delivered the last pup? How long since she pushed out the remaining afterbirth?

| The last puppy was born at 4am. She pushed out the afterbirth at about 5:30 am. I can feel another puppy but no movement. No contractions. She is resting comfortably and feeding the others. |

| If she's only resting and there is no signs of contractions or distress she should be okay for up to 4 hrs. between pups. Your getting to the critical point now. Warm up some Esbilac or evaporated milk with a bit of egg yolk in it to keep up her energy and supply her with calcium. Let her nurse as this stimulates oxytocin hormone. Try feathering again and if we don't have a pup soon call your vet.

| I gave her some calsorb and also a mixture of the goats milk, water, karo syrup, and egg yolk. She is nursing and comfortable. I will try feathering again. I am waiting for the vets to open should be in a half hour. That is the best I can do. Thanks so much for your thoughts. |

| My rule of thumb is you can wait an hour then go to emergency, if you know there is one more pup and nothing has happened. Sometimes it can feel like there is one more pup - but may be actually her uteris contracting after having pups and is quite normal. I always take mom and the pups in to the vets the morning after having pups in the night anyways for a check of everyone. This way I know all is well and we can all rest. Let us know how it goes. Congratulations!! T. |

| Thank you ladies so much!! We have been to the vet and had xrays and a shot of oxytocin and the vet said no more puppies just a large uterus. I guess having xrays done before is never a sure thing. They told us most likely 5 could be up to 7 puppies and we had 4. I am happy there were no more or I would have been very sad that they did not make it. As it was I had one girl I had to work on for 30 minutes and was sure may not make it but she and I worked together and we pulled it out!!! We have 3 little boys and 1 little girl!! 1 male 4.4 ounces 1female 3.6 ounces 1 male 3.2 ounces 1 male 3.4 ounces All very healthy for 59 days!!! Our Sophie was great!! Will post pics later!! |
