Fighting Females i posted this is another forum, the wrong one I think, but didn't get much of a respoinse so I am poosting here. I don't know what in the world is going on with my three females. kandy has seven weeks old pups, Frankie is pregnant and Little Fart has nothing going on. She is bashful and I have noticed that when the others are eating, she backs up. Well yesterday they all three balled up and fought. I was standing right there and it didn't start over food but ended at the food dish. I reached down and scooped Little Fart (Dixie) up and put her in time out. I also put food in the crate but she didn't eat it. later, when I let her out they were fine. Just now, she instigated a fight with the other two and Ceeby got in on it too. What in heck is going on? My dogs have never, ever done this before. pups are only in the room for a few hours a day and Ceeby and Dixie are both jealous of them. The pups weren't in this room when either fight happened. it was bad. They were on their hind legs going at each other and Ceeby growling and snarling. What in the world is wrong, I am so upset. No one will be here today from about five to about eleven in the evening and I am afraid they will kill each other. if i put someone in the crate which one should it be? I am thinking Dixie. Thanks

If I was you I would separate them all while you are away. If they are fighting when you are there, They are sure to fight when your gone and no one will be there to break it up. You may come home to one being really hurt. Im sorry they are doing this, I know it must be hard. I hope it all works out for you .

From experience I can tell you that if you have two that are fighting and one serving as a "FIGHT CHEERLEADER" then you need to keep all three separated when you don't have your eyes on them. The will pick at one of the "fighters" get a fight started and then back off and them on.

The same thing happened to me I have 3 females, mine all got along untill Gabby had her 1st litter now I have 2 that will kill each other if I let them near each other. I have to be extremely careful not to let them near each other. My other girl is definately the cheer leader. I have thought about getting rid of the insticater as well but I can't do it yet. I don't know how to solve it but I would definatly not leave mine together for any period of time with out me right there.

You have to remember that yorkies are Terriers, and have the terrier attitude, they most certinally will fight until death. There have been many times an owner, believing that her dogs would not fight, left for just a short time and came home to find one dead. I have 9 yorkies, and never, ever leave 2 of the same sex together while I am gone. I have left a male and female together if they are neutered/spayed, but that is the only time. When I am at work all my dogs are in seperate areas/cages/pens. They can and do change their positions in the pack. Which is why the fights, to establish the hiarchy of the pack, and the aggressor will remove any that appear to be competion for him/her.

Thanks for the info... So you must keep yours seperated all the time too unless you are right there? I am just nervous if one of my kids let them out but my kids KNOW not to let Chelsea nad Gabby next to each other. One out at a time I think it stinks and that is why I thought about getting rid of one. But I seem to have a hard time doing that too.

Yes, I have 2 females that will fight with each other, or any other female not related to them. I have to keep them seperated all the time. Yes, there have been times that they have gotten together, and have had at each other, and the only way I can get them apart, and not end up ripping one badly, is to put them under running water until they almost drown, then they will let to so they can breathe through their mouths. Yes, there have been a few punctures, and blood has been drawn, but nothing that they could not survive. I make double sure that the pens, or crates are shut tight when I leave for work in the morning, I would never forgive myself if I came home to find one dead, and I can not stand the throught of getting rid of one of them. They are my life.

Same problem! I've been having the same problem with our Spunky. He's 7 weeks old from a litter of 3 and he instigates all the time! He's the sweetest dog ever to people, but he's awful towards his siblings! We sold his sister last weekend, and he had the audacity to attack her while the people were deciding which puppy they wanted. We have decided to keep the two brothers separated when no one is around. We also tell him "NO" when he attacks his brother but that doesn't seem to help. As if little boys listen anyway! Big boys either!

isn't the reason most of us have more than one yorkie is that we wanted them to have playmates? my females usually are pretty well behaved unles one is in heat or pregnant they become a little more aggressive but separating them even for alittle while is enough for me to calm them down.when i leave them alone i don't have any qualms, they get upste being separated from each other so i would feel bad .but i could see if it was that out of control and you felt fearful to leave them together alone then definatly separate them
