| Pregnant With One? I need some help with you experienced breeders or anyone that has had this. I took my baby to the vet today and he is saying that he can only feel one puppy and it is large. She is 30 days from her first tie. I'm seeing another vet tomorrow for another opinion, probably either x-rays or ultrasound or both. I would like to know your experience if you have gone through this or if you have any information on it. I'm worried Thank you! Charlotte |

| DId the vet say how big? I mean did they say maybe too big? Gosh usually they have an idea. I would get an x-ray to know for sure. My one female the first litter she had was just one pup and we didn't even think she was pregnant, that's when I started getting them x-rayed. Good Luck. |

| Thanks for your reply. The vet showed me with his hands or rather fingers what the size was compared to what the size was of another female that I had palpated by him and they are 10 days apart in due dates. The one that is farther along had babies like the size of a fingernail or so. This one was like half the size of a golf ball. He wants to make sure that he's not missing something or possibly looking at something other than a puppy. I'm just so worried about her and I am going tomorrow for more extensive tests. I just want to know of others that have had their female have only one pup and everything was ok. Did they do anything special with the female as far as diet, etc? Edited to say that the vet thought that it was quite large for this stage. |

| I always have my pregnant females on: canned puppy food, dry puppy food, these mixed with cottage cheese. I do this about 3 weeks before they are due and keep them on it till the pups are weaned. Mine didn't have a problem delivering and I will say a prayer yours will be fine also. |

| Sounds to me like he thinks the pup is too large...perhaps a c-section is in store for her. Good Luck! Puppies are great

| OK, here goes. From what he is seeing now, he has suggested possibly aborting the puppy but only with other vet opinions and watching progression. I'm not for that. But mom's life is in danger too. I'm for doing anything to help mom and baby. I hope that I don't have to make that choice. So apparently, he's feeling a very large puppy(well, not apparently, but IS). I'm hoping and praying that he's feeling something else. I would take a false pregnancy over this kind of choice. He's already said that c-sec would be the only way if this puppy is this big. We all see wrong weights on human babies being diagnosed when they are still in the womb. I'm hoping that something is not showing and I know that he is too. Tomorrow seems like forever! Quote:

| What about if there's only one that is taking everything and becoming very large? Can you put them on a specific diet that won't hurt either mom or baby? If the vet is feeling right and this puppy is so large, I want more options. Quote:

Donating YT 14K Club Member | Charlotte, I want to say to wait to spend the money because they won't be able to tell much from a sono or x-ray at this stage. Bones are still forming. Gracie had a sono with her first pregnancy at 40 days and vet said there was only one pup in there. She had 4. Go see the other vet and get a second opinion. When there is only one pup in the uterus, the pup will grow exceptionally large...in most cases. Could be she'll have to have a c-section to have this pup.

| I would say possible c-section??? But I can tell you this vets have been wrong on sizes before even with xray. But mine don't even get xrayed till one week before they are due. I would seek another opinion to make sure. |

Donating YT 14K Club Member | After talking to you on the phone, Charlotte, you are doing everything best for your girl. Not every dog is lucky to have a mom that cares as much as you do. Go see Dr. Beck and listen to what he says. It's hard to not get upset but go with your heart.
