| age Your Yorkie is past her breeding prime IMO. Think about this for a minute..I have bred for over 30 years and never at 8 yrs...in fact I have only had two litter from a 7 yr old..there has to be a reason and it is because it is unsafe to put an older btich threw such stress. |

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | I'm not a breeder but she sure sounds like she should just be enjoying her life at this stage - Think of a woman in her 50's giving birth - it's just time to NOT put a body thru that kind of stress...I hope you decide against this ...you really could easily lose your yorkie. |

| yes she is too old. That isn't a good reason at all to breed her and put her at risk. Hope you decide against it and have her spayed instead. Any of my dogs more than 5 years of age, I always have a geriatric blood panel done before any surgical procedure including routine teeth cleaning. Put them through a pregnancy at that age? uh uh. |

| I think you have made the right decision. It would be like a 50 year old woman being pregnant for the first time, and we all know that isn't the best thing to do. I got a natural bristle (boar) brush at Sally's for the dogs. It was for people, but works good on their hair, since Yorkie hair is much like human hair. It is gentle and does not hurt them. They mostly like to be brushed, and even the screamer who hates it will let you use that brush without too much complaint. Oh, I think they had them for 5.95 and 7.95 or thereabouts. Can't remember for sure. |
