| Question about Micorchipping First off- Let me just say, Yes, I know it was irresponsible. I have a male and a female, The male is my husbands and no matter what I tell him about getting him neutered, he doesn't listen- Well someone I know gave me a little yorkie girl they found, vet estimated that she was about 6-8 months when I got her. We tried to find the owner but no one stepped forward. When I took her in I made an appointment to have her spayed about 7-8 weeks later because she was skin and bones when we got her and the vet wanted to get her weight up before surgery. Well she went into heat, we were keeping them separated via the crate/rotate method but my idiot of an ex room mate let them out while I was at work one day (hence why shes my ex room mate) and they tied. So fast forward to now and I have 3, 2 week old puppies. I've already had their tails docked and dew claws removed, but I have a question about microchipping them. I already have homes lined up for 2 of the pups and I was wondering if I can microchip them in both my name and the new owners names? That way if they ever get lost or surrendered to a shelter I can be notified so I can pick them up? I know that I am responsible for these babies the rest of their lives and I would hate for them to ever end up in a shelter. |

| I have seen this before. The rescue I foster for registers all of their dogs under the rescue's name so if they are ever lost, they can be returned to the rescue. I would definitely think about this... I wouldn't ever want one of my puppies to end up at a shelter I hope you plan on having your dogs spayed and neutered...

| Yes it can be done. The new owner would be the first contact and you would be the additional contact. Just make sure who ever fills out the paper work, sends it in that way. My Willow and Allie I adopted from a Rescue Group and they are registered in my name and the Rescue Group name. My Luci I took in as a Rehome and I had her microchipped I am the first contact and my SIL is the 2nd contact and they also all have my Vet info as well.

| And be sure that the secondary/backup contact information is on the database online so all can see it. I recently rechecked Tibbe's microchip info online and the ONLY thing that was correct or there was my name, address, one phone numbe and my email, though it was all in capital letters. All else was missing, wrong, or incomplete online - perhaps since the Jersey bad weather. It had been all filled in and correct when I had checked before.

Put YOUR name not only as the alternate contact number, I put my name as the person/kennel that inserted the microchip, and I put it on the info, "PLEASE NOTIFY ME TOO IF FOUND." |
