| Someone please give me advise I thought i was doing the right thing now i am worried i did not do the right thing. Many have looked at my post but no answer to my question . Last weekend I got a male yorkie he is 11 weeks old . He is my baby . I felt guilty leaving him during the day so . I thought getting him a playmate would help . So I bought a female 8 weeks old yesterday . i looked at it that it would be easier to potty train two and get it over and they would grow up together . When we got home with her he was wanting to play but then he wanted to get on her she is smaller than him . I am worried about putting them in the same pen together during the day that he might hurt her . My question is did i do the wrong thing and is it safe to put them together during the day . Some one please be kind and give me advise . i do not know what to do . |

Luv my 7 Furkids Donating Member | I can only answer what I would do, if one is more aggressive I personally wouldnt keep them together unsupervised. Thats only my opinion though. Good luck. |

Living My Yorkie Dream Donating Member | I would say that it does not seem unusual for a puppy to be humping anything or anyone be it dog, human, or toy. My guess is he is just playing. Whether or not I'd leave them alone all day depends on how persistent he is and if he is hurting or really bothering the other puppy. In the meantime you might try "training" him to leave her alone by removing him from her when you see the action and give him something else to play with to take him mind off of her. Maybe also, remove him, give him a toy, then give him a treat and tell him he is a good boy. I'm no expert, but that is what I would try.

| When we got our first male dog a few months ago he started to hump things, quite often too. I didn't know how to handle that. Then, when he began humping something I said no in a firm voice and then gently but firmly put him on his back to show him I am dominate and I don't want him doing that. When he stopped fighting to get free from being on his back I would let him go. That is an instinctual thing dominate dogs do to lower ranking dogs to show who's boss. After a few times of doing that he really stopped humping except for every once in a while, but it is way better than how often he was before. If you spend a week or more training him while you can supervise them, he should learn to behave a little more. I also personnally think it is a good idea that you got him a playmate, I am a firm beliver in pairs of dogs, they have so much more fun with a buddy through their life. After your girl grows a little she will be able to hold their own. But the one issue you will be presented with is when she matures, one of the dogs (or both) will need to be fixed or else this little pair will present all new sets of problems you will have to deal with to keep your female healthy while she grows up (and avoid pregnancy when she is too young)

| I have a 7 month old female and a 5 1/2 month old male, we got the boy when Tessie was 4 months old, he was 13 weeks old. Hobbes did the same thing to Tessie, he didn't even know which end. I was always afraid he would hurt her but he never has. If she gets too much she will growl and let him know.We haven't had any problems leaving them together. It is really nice that they have each other and it hasn't been much more work. They were spayed and neutered on Friday and are both doing good. She has been a little more aggressive with him because she doesn't feel good. Good Luck with your furbabies but you shouldn't have any real problems. I agree with the post about pinning him to the floor, this is what we learned in puppy classes at Petsmart. Enjoy your babies.
