| Day 58 and concerned Ok, a little history first as to why things happened as they did in the first place. I will try to make it short. I haven't been on here in a long time due mostly to things going on in my family. Without going into the entire story, I was away from home (my family still here with the dogs) with my eldest daughter and my 2 1/2 year old grandson in the ICU for about 4 months time. In the end we lost him so as you can imagine things at my home were not as they should be for quite a while. Unfortunately, my little girl Yorkie Honey went in to heat while I was gone and right near the time of my grandson's passing. Now going back just a bit, I had decided some time back that Honey was too small in my opinion and that if she were bred it would be a male smaller than my Teddy. So knowing that my plan was not to let them mate during her heat this past time which was her second. Now as I said, I had been living in the ICU with my daughter and grandson and by the time I knew that they had gotten together it was too late. Honey is/was just under 5 lbs or right at and Teddy is right at 5lbs to maybe just over. Now, the concern is this, Honey's belly is so huge and I am so worried that she is going to have big troubles. Of course there was not alot of planning as far as the vet goes because I had decided we were not going to do this yet. This is not my first litter, just first with Honey. I took her to the vet on her 55th day for an xray and the vet said he felt that she didn't have more than a couple and that they were VERY large. He said that on palpation but then with the x-ray found 4 heads for sure and a possible 1 or 2 more spines that we couldn't see heads for. So his thoughts upon palpation seem to be way off. As I said, I had not planned on doing this now and now find myself stuck with the small, old back woods vet that is available. The office in my little town is clean and I like the doc but they don't have the xray here so I had to go there and it is also where I will have to take her if she needs an emergency c section. That office is filthy, smelly, the doctor is older than dirt and has very old views. I had to argue with him to even give me the xray. I do not like him or his place and am so worried about her having a surgery there. If she goes in the day time she can go here to my doc but of course I would still hope she can do this on her own without having to have anastesia. Finding another vet is really not an option due to where I live. The one I have to take her to already is 1/2 hour away. I am praying that she will do this without any troubles but I know it may not be that way. I am completely prepared now as far haivng everything I need for her and the puppies all together and set up. I am with her now every minute of the day and night. We will see how she does and then if we have to we will go to the vet. So the reason I am posting is that I am hoping to have you all here to go through the last few days and whelp with us. Not only to hold our hands but for advice as needed. I have had females near this size before do just fine but never had one get a belly this big and that is what concerns me. She is my love and I want to make sure I do everything right for her now that we are where we are. I know that chances are that here you will all want to slam me for letting this happen but I am asking that under the circumstances of the loss in our family and the time it took me away that you be understanding and just help us get through this. I will try to upload a pic of her belly so you can see how big it is. The first on was taken on the 31st and the second one was taken on June 2nd. I took her temp. this last night and it was 100.00. This morning was 99.5.

| Oh my, it sounds like you have been thru a lot already. It is rather scary when you don't have a mentor close by or a vet you can trust 24 hours a day. I hope your girl has a safe whelping. If you would like to PM me, I can give you my phone number and you could call me if you feel the need for some support. I am far from an expert, but will do all I caN to help.

| Thank you both so much! It will mean everything to have you to go through this with. Thank you also for your thoughts and Sympathies for our angel baby. I am praying all goes smoothly but am so worried about her. Do you have any thoughts on the size of her belly? Does it seem beyond what would be normal to you. When those photos were taken she still had a week to 10 days left. I was almost hoping she would go a little early. Her temp tonight was 100.5. I am only taking it twice a day right now as I am here 24/7 anyway and I don't want to keep bothering her with that.

| Let me start off by saying I'm so sorry to hear about your grandson. I can't imagine the pain your family must be going through. My deepest sympathy to you and your family. As the poster before said is there a local breeder who might be on hand to help ?? Do you know the history and back ground on your male ? Your male and female sounds pretty close in weights. I’d much rather have 3-4 pups showing on an X-ray then just 1-2 because chances are they should be smaller and easier for her to whelp. Her tummy look normal for a pregnant mom. They look like they are going to pop sometimes but they won’t. We’ll be keeping an eye out and hopefully someone will be on when the time comes. |

| im so so sorry about your grandson my gidget gets really big like that and she always has big litters, first was 5, second was 7 and the last one was 6 puppies. i can usually count the puppies..can you feel well enough to count? i would think if she is have 3-4 or more like the other poster said it would be better and she will most likely do fine..the more she has the smaller they are and the easier (hopefully) that they will come out. my fingers are crossed for you!! take care!!.. |

| I am so sorry for the loss of your grandson. My Ellie was big like that. She had an oops pregnancy too. I was very scared for her. She ended up having 5 puppies. She did great. Everything was text book. Make sure you read up on breech births. Out of all 5, there was one that was breech. He was the biggest. I had to help pull him out because he was also the largest. He did fine and now lives with us as my son has adopted him. I am in NC, and only had experience with the one birth which was a text book case. If you want to PM me, I can give you my phone number so that you can call. I will be praying for a safe whelp and hopefully you will not need to use that vet again. I would definitely get her into your regular vet as soon as the whelping is over so that he can check her and make sure that all of the placentas and puppies were delivered. |

| I am so sorry to hear about the passing of your grandson. I know that was such a hard thing to go through. I pray your little girl will be okay and that she has a safe whelping. Size wise, I think the sire is not too big for her and she is pretty close to an acceptable breeding size. She is a very pretty girl. It looks to me like she will have around 4 pups. Sometimes the x-rays are deceiving and the pups look bigger than they really are so we just have to pray that is the case with her. My last two litters the moms had their pups a little early, one on day 60 and one on day 59 so your girl could have them any day now. Please keep us posted on how she does. |

| Thank you everyone for your kind responses. Today is day 59 and her 1:00 temp was 98.9. I think I will start taking it a little more often today to see what it is doing. She does seem kind of tight and they do look like they have dropped. Chattiesmom, it is nice that you are in Ga! I looked and you are close to 5 hours from me though. Hopefully all will go smoothly though and I can take advantage of the wonderful offers with phone numbers only if absolutely needed. All of the kind words in regard to our sweet angel is very much appreciated. He was born with a birth defect that caused him to need a multiviseral transplant (Transplant of muliple organs) He spend most of his short life in the hospital with only short trips out. In the last several months things were going wrong with him right and left until we ulimately lost him. We miss him beyond measure but take great great comfort in the fact that he is no longer suffering. That is the very short version but thought that since you are offering your thoughts, sympathies and prayers it would be nice for you to know a little background on him. I will attach a pic or two as well. I will keep you all updated on honey's progress...which of course will be all smooth because it just has to be.

| Thank you so much for sharing pictures of your precious grandson. I know you will always cherish what little time you did have with him. I know he is in God's loving hands now. It sounds like Honey could possibly have them very soon. Wouldn't you know it, they always wait until the weekend. I am sure all will go well. |
