In despirate need of a mentor !!!! Hello friends, I am in desperate need of a mentor! My little girl is 33 days into gestation, she is refusing to eat. It has been 3 days and I am getting worried, I have managed to hand feed her a little here and there, however she has lost 1 oz. I was home cooking but worried that I may not be supplying all of the nutrition needed, (after reading on the Internet), so I found Flint River Ranch and ordered it. Both of my little fur babies loved it at first. Now mama turns her nose up to it. I don't know what I'm doing and so very confused with everything I read. I need help from someone willing to spend some time on me. I just want the best for my babies. Thanks Dee

I feel for you, I am not going to start breeding for a year or more, as I want to read and learn as much as possible before the real thing gets here. From what I read the other day, give the bitch a lot of protein foods, you need to keep her eating. My old vet has a fantastic website, it will give a lot of informative info. But, where he says use a turkey baster, disreguard that and get one of those little things you clean babies noses out with instead(for suctioning) the vet used to breed Golden retrievers. Here is the website Reproduction and sex in dogs and cats

I kept my girl on puppy food from the beginning of her pregnancy and even while she was nursing her pups. I did have a friend that went thru this with her female, not eating. She was having morning sickness. Not throwing up just not eating. She finally came around and started eating lots. Be sure and have her seen by your vet. You dont want her losing weight. Lissette

I am too new to this to be very informative for you but I have a girl that's 38-43 days and went through morning sickness and didn't eat very much for me, then I began mixing wet food with her puppy dry food and she began eating a lot more when I did that. I also heated up the wet a bit before I mixed it up and she liked that even more. I buy the best wet food I can because one can mixed in her meals a few times a day last for a week or so. Good Luck, I hope you can figure out how to get her to eat more. You should call your vet and ask him too, he may have a good suggeation. I hope someone will speak up and mentor you.

Thank you Thank you all for your replies. I have been searching for good information on care for my babies, I waited for them for so long and just want to do everything correct so they will live long healthy and happy lives. In the process I think I have just confused myself by reading to much, one article will say something then the next will contradict the one I just read. I have learned so much about the junk dog food is made from that I started cooking for them, then I got worried that I wasn't giving them the proper nutrition, especially with my little girl being pregnant, now she doesn't want to eat anything. I did get her to eat a little this afternoon by hand feeding her, and she ate a little more for dinner. I just need a mentor to get me on the right track. I know I sound like a babbling idiot. I just thank you all for this forum, and taking the time to help. Dee

Living My Yorkie Dream Donating Member | My female had a spell of not eating during her pregnancy....I am sure it was due to morning sickness. Within a weeks time, she was back to herself and eating well again. Check with your vet if she continues to not eat at all, but I'll bet she'll be gobbling her food down soon.......and asking for more! Keep us updated, I LOVE puppies!
