how much? REALLY......... So how much do you guys REALLY spend on the GE? I know I cant stick to a limit do yall? This is gonna be so much fun |
haven't experiences it yet...but once i hit my 1000 post i will become a donating member...and maybe will be able to participate in the next one...keke i know i will have a hard time not over-doing it...keke |
I was wondering the same thing...it's our first, too. I'm a HUGE shopaholic and setting a $20 minimum is such a bad idea for me LOL I can't imagine I'll spend less than $50... |
*shugs* i dunno !! i haven't participated in one yet...i'll be able to on the next GE & i can't hardly wait !! :D |
I always spend way too much. But it is fun. We love to shop for other . |
I too spend more than the limit......but some people maybe only be able to afford just that, so the important thing is that each and eveyone one of our furbabies get something ;) I know, Bobbi loves anything he gets.........he feels special and runs around the house prancing like a King :D The real value of the GE is to SEE and enjoy them 'claim their price' I myself can't afford much, but always manage to shop way ahead of time and before I know it, I have a TON of stuff-that way it doesn't hurt my husband's pocket book all at once :p |
I can't wait to get my baby and be a donating member so I can participate!!! I'm going to go way overboard I think.. :p |
From what the pics show, it looks like just about everybody goes overboard. But, a really good shopper can find some great deals and get alot more for their money. Shopping for someone else's little baby is soooo much fun :) . |

From what I have seen, most everyone goes overboard!! I think we're all just a bunch of shopaholics!! |
This will be my first time to participate but whatever maggie gets will be appreciated. I know i've already bought way more the 20 dollars for my part, but I dont want anyone to go over board on us if they cant afford it. I remember when I couldnt afford 20 dollars for lots of things wanted not counting somethings I might have needed. 20 dollar gift will be fine. I just think its something nice to do and fun. I always go to the pet dept whatever store I go to, even in the grocery store. Its kinda like looking at all the cute baby things they have today that they didnt have when my kids were babies and I still oww and aww about all the cute baby things to my hubby. My youngest grand child of 2 is 7 so hes not in the cutest stages of babie hood anymore. by 7 they think their so grown up. So buying things so little for the furbabies gives me that feeling of shopping for cute little babies still. lol. I love babies even if their furbabies. So whoever is assigned my name, dont make big deal over it, just enjoy what you buy and enjoy your shopping for whatever it is. we'll be happy. Maggie loves to just get a toy in the mail from where I order things on line. I usually get her a little something so she wont feel left out when I open the box. |
the last exchange was my first exchange and i had big plans and then my hubby was laid off a couple weeks before the exchange and i was sad cause i could on ly do the minimun but my buddy i hope still got good gifts. but i hope this time to spoil the little pup that we get but the way i see it is just know that what you spend is your choice and that you are making one pup really happy but you may just get a little less in return only because some cant spend it. but im happy spending alot when i can so i hope i can but this one is gonna be fun does it have a theme or just an exchange? |
i believe this theme is Spring :) we went way over the limit... at least twice the suggested amount.. but it really doesn't matter.. you'd be surprised the amount of stuff you can get for 20 bucks if you bargin hunt! Layla was SO happy when the package arrived and now every time a box comes in the house she thinks it is for her! we are SO excited to get our GE buddy's name so we can go shopping! she comes and helps me pick out all the good toys ;) |

Just a reminder that the $20 is a minimum, and while we don't have any maximum, members should not expect to receive HUGE giftboxes, even though some members may go way over the $20 minimum. The YT Gift Exchange is a fun program for all members to get to know one another as well as share cute and fun things. Have fun! |
I wouldnt care if it was .50 this is a good idea and we will all have lots of fun |
I love everything about the Gift Exchanges. Bur for me the most important part is the friendly teasing and taunting, the hints, and all of the fun and love that goes into gift selection. I can only speak for myself, but the GE isn't about the price of the gift or the $$ value of what I received 'cause I am a huge fan of home made-hand made things. For me the GE is about love and friendship -- much of what I send is handmade with lots of love :) It would truly break my heart if I thought that someone stressed out over the cost of their gift OR if they didn't participate because they couldn't spend a ton of $$. We all go into the exchange knowing that the rule states a $20.00 minimum -- send us something fun and a $1,000,000,00.99 gift of love. |
i agree with everyone... this is so much fun and it is SUCH a great way to get to know other people on here...w hich is kinda hard being that it is an online forum... and i love seeing what people give because it is stuff that their pup obviously loves and sometimes things that i would never think to buy for Layla.. like the soccer ball!!! and now that she has it... she loves it! i can't WAIT to get my buddy! |

Same here! Couldn't have said it any better myself :) |
Brownie would be happy with an empty box lol |

Gee Cindy, I hope I get you cause I'll send you a box full of teasing, taunting, friendship and homemade biscuits!!! :yelrotflm :D |

I can NOT get her away from it...she's snuggled in it right now lol :p |
i spent more than 20 last exchange i was in, i love to shop. and it is alot of fun, waiting, and chatting back and forth while we wait :) i cant wait to see who dixie and peanut are buying for :) |
I spend over $50 bucks on the last GE but as another YT explained that if you can't afford it just stick to what you can afford...I know Bailey would be happy with anything, heck if you put a sock, a pair of underwear, and roll of toliet paper in a box shoot I think Bailey would be the MOST HAPPIEST DOG ALIVE!!! HONEST!!! I need to hurry and get Bailey's weight in so I can participate in this GE we didn't sign up yet because I have been busy with my job but hopefully we can go by the vet up the street to get an accurate weight on Bailey then I will have all the info I need to sign up :) but ohhhhhh I saw this Juicy Dog Carrier that is CALLING MY NAME and I just purchased a new Dooney & Bourke purse and now I need the matching wallet!! So hopefully I can afford to do all! :D |
Personally I know our pups will be happy with just about anything, but I've kept myself from participating on the off-chance I can't afford everything I'd want to buy. I'm strange in that way, I guess because it does matter to me how much we're able to send out. I wouldn't want a yorkie parent sending of a package they spent $50 on only to receive a $20 one in return. |

YT ROCKS!!!! |
Wow!! $20.00 can go a long way. I like to shop speciality shops when they have sales. I can get some great things for a little $$$. All I hope is that my secret buddy has had a great time shopping for my babies and I always have felt the love and effort put into packaging up these gifts. Hope everyone has a great GE!!!!! |
This is my first time! And I am really excited! I've already started shopping and have picked up several items and have only spent $12.00 so far!! There are definitely bargains out there. I'm waiting now to see if I get a boy or girl so I can buy gender specific items next. (Even though I'm finding bargains, I will most likely go over the $20.00 minimum  , much to my husband's despair!!! :D It's just too much fun!!!!) SHOP TILL YOU DROP!!!!! I have 5 yorkies, but I am putting Pixie's name in for this Exchange. I'll have to rotate them in future GE's so nobody is left out. |
I agree w/ what everyone has said so far. I know w/ one of my GE's I spent over $20, but it didn't "look" like it to me...if that makes sense....weird, I know....does $20 even have a "look"...hee,hee! I'm crazy! I do buy lots of goodies on sale, etc. throughout the year and toss them into our GE box in the closet. GE's are fun and I think I get a kick out of people showing off all thier goodies w/ their good lists and pictures! Love seeing what everyone gets!!! |
