I just don't think there is an answer. Some people will stick to the mim of $40.00 and some will go crazy!

I go a little crazy.. but it is hard to put a price tag because I make a lot of the items. I try to keep tabs of the supplies.. but even them it is hard because I may buy extra fabric. If I put a dollar amount on the items as if I purchased them it would be a totally different amount.

I have been very happy with my SB (well.. except one and the yt members more than made up for it!). Kathy, Ronda are the very best!!!

The thing with me is it is like Christmas! I work very hard on my box, sewing and planning and thinking. I am so very nervious that it is good enough, should I buy more? Will they like it? Did I make the outfits the right size? I just am a worry wart. I think when I get my box I am on a emotional overload. Then the let down comes.. not because anything goes wrong.. it is the Christmas let down.

I am assuming you will not be able to make it the next GE. But don't worry!! There will be another one right around the corner!!!

For the two of you who are not able to participate next time, have you thought about participating in a behind the scenes way? I know members in the past who have helped other members during the GE when they didn't participate. Shinja was working behind the scenes with me during the last one I participated in. And it really helped me a lot!! I know that numerous have used others to help out during the GE to make it special for their buddies. Just a thought! That way you are "participating" even though you can't participate.

I think it is a great idea for them! Gets them really involved in the fun!!! And then they can be getting ready for the next one!

Now we even have new members complaining they can't be in it and whining about the sign up rules! The rules are in place to prevent windfalls. It simply isn't fair for people to get crappy boxes of dollar store junk from members who sign up for YT and see the old boxes and decide to better their positions with a nice box.

There have been so many problems lately that I'm not sure we will sign up again.

I couldn't agree with this more! The GE isn't suppose to be about how much "stuff" you can take in while sending a box of cr@p just barely making the minimum amount.

My boxes have always been well thought out because I am a vested member of the community and not here on a whim.

I am also feeling like the GE is getting out of hand. I have participated in many and enjoyed it fully. Lately, there is a different "feel" and comments about how people want certain SB's and want to be spoiled like so and so....it all feels kinda dirty at times

I think we did this to ourselves by getting too big and spoiling too much. I just don't see how we can possibly "take it all back" now and go back to $40 boxes. Period. And to think that as on the GE just passed at Christmas time....we were working with a $25 minimum

. If I were ADMIN and had to deal with this every GE I would consider scrapping the whole thing and save myself a major headache

I agree, the feeling has been different. I have had some members as my GE buddy where I spent tons of money on their box and all of a sudden *POOF* they are gone from YT, never to be seen again. Hope they love those pajamas I made with love or the other items that I put together. Enjoy your windfall for your investment of peanuts.

Oh my gosh I so live in my own little bubble. I guess there has been more issues than I was even aware of. I was so lucky the two I participated in to have Remy (Shinja) and Sugar (Lisa). And I have been blessed with two great buddies for Rosie. I hate that there are members that do things like this Cathy. The GE is so much fun it is sad to think that there are some with motives involved.

I am pretty new to the GE's too and I have been blessed with great buddies in the 3 I have participated in.
It really sucks that a few bad apples has to sour the whole process, but that is the way it is in the real world too. You always have those that want something for nothing

I was just saying the EXACT things to my husband at lunch yesterday. I told him I didn't know if I wanted to participate ever again.
