For me the GE, like Christmas is about the giving and not the receiving so much. You can get creative and make your GE package one filled with love and attention more so than high $$ material things. Also, take a recommendation from the GE rules page and send lightweight items. Even possibly a YT vendor gift certificate(s) would cost you nothing to mail.

| I am still conflicted about whether I want to do the GE because of this too. On one hand, I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to have a SB in another country because I'm sure everything would vary from country to country and I'd be able to send them things unavailable to them, and vice-versa. However, the shipping could be outrageous, especially as the box gets heavier! So I'm still unsure that it is time for Levi and I to participate in our first GE...

I just wish there was a way around international shipping rates!

| Administrator | If you are not in the USA or Canada, there is a $20 shipping fee to participate per Gift Exchange. Your Secret Buddy will be reimbursed this $20 fee after you have received your package. This covers the extra costs of shipping international. The $20 shipping fee for international members will be sent to the YT member who is the Secret Buddy of the international member. 99 percent of the YT members who participate in the YorkieTalk Gift Exchanges are based in the USA or Canada. Shipping a 4 pound package to anywhere in the USA or Canada may be $12 or $15 or even cheaper if you use a USPS Flat Rate Box, but a 4 pound package shipped to England may cost $47 to $56. We feel this would be unfair to the majority of members who participate in the GE and we long ago came up with the shipping reimbursement fee to cover some of those costs. If there are 5 or 6 YT Europe Members who wish to participate in a Europe-only GE, we would be willing to have a Europe-only GE in the future. Last edited by admin; 10-07-2010 at 08:28 AM. |

| We too would love to get a buddy who lives across the pond. We dont need our box to be heavy at all - just send Cadbury flakes and maybe a small token for the dog and we'll be fine and your package will be light to ship!

I started a thread about it and got 3 or 4 members willing to join, and I found an old thread about it which had over 10 members willing to join. I send a message to all members willing to take part in the old thread but none of them replied so I assume they dont use YT anymore. ![]() I am joining the GE because I think it would be great fun and Im looking forward to Poppy receiving items I cant get in England, I just hope who ever gets me is as happy....
