YorkieTalk Gift Exchange XVI SIGNUPS!
 

The next YorkieTalk Gift Exchange, YT GE XVI, our sixteenth Gift Exchange, will take place in May 2009. Remember that the person you are giving a gift to MAY or MAY NOT be the same person you are receiving a gift from. You MAY or MAY NOT be paired with a Yorkie of the opposite sex. There is no official theme for this GE, though if you want to give your Secret Buddy winter-related items, that is fine.

PLEASE NOTE THE BELOW if your Secret Buddy lives in Canada or the United Kingdom or overseas:

We suggest you use the US Postal Service to mail to Canada or a non-USA address (as UPS and Fedex charges additional fees).

Also, please note to mark your item as a gift, and please do not claim it as more than $50, otherwise your Secret Buddy will have to pay import taxes on it. If you have any questions about this, please contact us. Thank you!

- You are a Donating Member of YorkieTalk.

- You have 100 or more posts here at YorkieTalk (before you sign up in this thread).

- You joined YorkieTalk before March 1, 2009.

- Please do NOT send your Secret Buddy any USED toys or clothes. Re-gifting a new item you may have received is fine, but any USED items are not allowed.

Please note that the spending minimum is $20 for your Gift Exchange gift (this does not include shipping), though if you choose to spend more on your Secret Buddy, you may. Please do not expect anything more.

Here is the Gift Exchange Rules and Regulations thread. Please read it again, as there have been some changes to the rules since the last Gift Exchange. We now require all participants to be Donating Members (members that have donated $25 or more). If you are ALREADY currently a Donating Member (your usertitle shows Donating Member), this does not apply to you. We must receive your donation before you may sign up for this Gift Exchange.

Please note that you MAY receive a secret buddy in Canada (if you are in the US), and you MAY receive a secret buddy in the US (if you are in Canada). Be prepared to pay a few dollars more in shipping costs if this is the case. If you receive a secret buddy in Europe or overseas, there will be extra shipping costs, thus you will be reimbursed roughly $19 for the extra shipping. We will reimburse you via Paypal or cashier's check after the recipient receives their gift. Also, to save on shipping costs, you may want to keep the package "lighter".

This thread is ONLY for signups. Do not post any questions or anything else besides sign up in this thread. Please PM us if you have any questions.

You must already have your Yorkie (if you are a new Yorkie parent) by April 1, 2009 to participate in this Gift Exchange.

The signup period will end April 30, 2009. You will receive your Secret Buddy information within THREE DAYS after the end of the signup period. If for some reason you sign up and can not participate in this Gift Exchange, you MUST notify us before the end of the signup period.

You may send gifts starting May 1, 2009. The deadline for sending out gifts will be May 31, 2009.

He loves most treats, but tummy cant handle bully sticks. He does like to chew so I was thinking maybe treats that last a little longer would be nice for him!!! He is a very playful little guy. His most favorite spot to lay down is anywhere you lay a soft blanket.

These are just ideas. We will love anything our SB gets!! We are soooo excited!!!

TOYS: Daizy is on a mission to remove every squeaker in EVERY toy she comes into contact with. So finding toys that she can't tear up...is very hard! She goes crazy for anything that makes noise! Please no rubber toys or anything from China..She loves to chew and dig, and dig and chew!
SNACKS: She ADORES bully sticks! But I have to ask..if you want to get her a bully stick..please only the ones that don't actually smell like what they are! lol (non-stinky ones) She's very picky about snacks. About the only snack I have found that she loves is Pupperoni. We've tried goumet treats..but she isn't interested in them. I have given Daizy greenies once in awhile...and she LOVE LOVE LOVES:dribble: them. But I haven't gotten her any in a long time so I'm ok with greenies..the small ones.
CLOTHING STYLES: Daizy has plenty of dresses...because we live in Montana.... we just don't dress up that often! But she always has room for more...if that's what you want to get for her! :o) She loves PJ'S!!! And she only has ONE pair! So she could definately use pj's. Specially since the nights get cold here year round! :cold smil And Hoodies....a girl can never have too many hoodies. However she won't wear shoes!

Yorkie's favorite colors - We love her in RED and BABY BLUE, however she doesn't have anything in GREEN or YELLOW... But she looks cute in any color we've put on her! :yay_jump:

I would prefer no rawhide. And please no toys or treats from China. Other than that please just have fun. I will tell you that every time any box or package comes into our home..Daizy automatically KNOWS it's for her!!! I will take video of her excitement when we get your gift so you can see what I mean...lol She's a very sweet, loving little girl. We love to go on long hikes together in the mountains. One thing I haven't gotten for the girls is a doggie carseat...simply because they are so stinking expensive....however if you have or can find a used doggie car seat...I'd be thrilled to get one! Especially one that would hold both girls...together they weigh under 10 lbs. So that's just an idea. Anyhow...you can use this information as a guide in Daizy's gift...or throw it out altogether and go YOUR OWN route!!! We're totally kewl with that. Just know that Daizy will be happy with ANYTHING you choose for her!!! Like I said earlier...she LOVES getting packages!!!! Tucker and I are very excited! April is my favorite month!! (My name is April and I was born April 1st) So this sign up is exceptionally special!! One thing to note is that Tucker is extremely picky when it comes to food and treats, so it might be best to stay away from these and stick with non-edible items :)

We think it’s more fun when you have free range, so we’d just like to give a few guidelines and let you run wild! :D We are re-doing our home in black and white polka dots with red as an accent color, and some of Tucker’s favorite things no longer fit in with the décor. Anything that is black, white or red would be great. And polka dots would be even better. I’m trying to replace some of his baby blue things with others in this color scheme. I will say that I have already replaced his food bowls with polka dot ones, and he also already has a polka dot carrier, so we wouldn’t need those.

We do have one specific thing, though, that we would be absolutely thrilled to get! The number one item on our wish list for this Gift Exchange is a cover for his favorite Papasan Chair. The cushion it currently has is navy blue, and it soooo no longer fits in with the Black, White, & Red. I’d really like to keep the chair for him, but it just looks awful in the room with that Navy Blue. :rolleyes: I’ve seen covers for these cushions that zip on like a pillow case. We’d love one in black, but white or bright tomato red would work too. The cushion is 50 inches long (across the circle) and 4 inches thick. If you are crafty, you could probably even make one. Any material would work, but I know Tucker would absolutely love something that feels like a super soft blanket. He loves to curl up in the chair while one of my blankets is on it, so I just know he’d go crazy for this combo!!!

Most of all, we want you to have fun with this!!! We just wanted to give some color guidelines and one particular suggestion and let you run free on everything else. We are hoping you have a great time searching for fun items with these colors/polka dots.

Thor is in the market for a new blanket or bed. He's been eyeing the snuggle sacks, belly bands, and the 4th of July outfits at gofetch. Any kind of Stars 'n Stripes outfit for the upcoming 4th would be great!

He likes toys, but he is very, very small, and a bit wussy. We use the XXS small air-dog tennis balls for fetch. They are about 1" across. We would love an extra small soft frisbee; a little hoop for tricks; an extra-quiet clicker (he is scared of the standard clicker).

We also think doggie puzzles and gadgets are cool. Nina Ottosson has very cool toys, but they are very expensive and probably too big for Thor. However, if you happen to see something similar to those, we'd be thrilled!

He probably doesn't need any more clothes, but he wouldn't say no to a cute harness or sweatshirt. He likes stuff with monkeys or little skulls and crossbones. :)

We could also use some good doggy organizers. Right now I keep all of Thor's stuff in a big plastic box, and it's getting hard to find anything.

No greenies or raw hides, please.

Thor's big things are: he doesn't want to look like a girl; he is very small and can have trouble even with small toys or bones; and he wants his SB to have fun. We are sure that we'll love whatever you decide on!

Sorry, meant to add one thing: if there you find grooming wax to that helps keep yorkie hair out of their eyes, Thor would be eternally grateful.

All the stuff we listed is just to give you ideas, so if you see something cool that we didn't mention, go for it!

Novelty in food is a big plus- no yucky artificial stuff, please :). Chase loved his Hide-a-Squirrel, but managed to rip it apart. We've been eyeing the Hide-a-Bee or any other puzzle type toys. Love the clothing styles on Designer dog clothes, designer dog collars, designer dog beds, designer dog carriers | Trixie + Peanut, but please just use as a reference since they are expensive! Handmade things are always appreciated. He will be so happy to recieve anything from his secret buddy :animal36!

I have allergies to most flowery smell so please chose grooming product accordingly.
No water related items. I won't have any use for them.
No rawhide.

*To date everything she encounters is a toy...the packaging, the tags, etc. She will be excited over anything.
*So far the only treat she enjoys are real mini carrots. Apparently she has not developed a taste yet for commercial treats.
*She is so laid-back and easy going that the clothing hasn't bothered her when I've dressed her...preference would be a style that has a D ring on it if possible.

Yorkie's favorite colors - She has many things in pink but any color is fine. She doesn't realize it yet but she will LOVE orange when football season arrives and she learns she is a TN Vols fan.

Please understand that we will appreciate anything you choose to send but (in all honesty) there are a few things that would not be as popular as others. She loves to gnaw on things but I would rather she not have greenies or rawhide items. Also, I am too old-fashioned to appreciate the skull and crossbone items since they represent poison to me. Also, she goes paw-footed all the time so no paw coverings, please. Finally, Taffy wants you to know that her owner cannot stand snakes (not even pictures) so please do not send any type of toy snake.

Snacks - I give Diddy all natural snacks. His favorites are Wellness well bites, Soho Good Dog treats, Itty Bitty Buddy Biscuits, Merricks Bully Sticks. He would like to try the banana or carrot Yorkie Yummies:)

Yorkie's Favorite Toys, Snacks, Clothing style - Kissy loves soft squeakers and lives to destroy them. She also loves to eat everything so we don't usually give her any rubber or plastic toys because she ends up chewing them to bits and then eats it. As for snacks she will eat about everything, she's not picky at all. But she seems to have a sensitive stomach and gets wet poopy to the more complicated treats. She does well with yorkie yummies from Chatties mom and pupperoni treats though. Of course we're willing to try anything our buddy will like us to have but please no biscuits. The furkids tend to have a hard time breaking them apart and like to make a mess of them after. Kissy would love to wear anything her buddy buys for her. :p

Kissy would like to mention that if our buddy is planning to buy bows please get the ones with barrettes. Because mommy can never figure out the bands and struggles with them over her head alot of the times. :rolleyes:
