Messy hair after removing winter sweater/hoody

In the winter, or whenever it's pretty cold out, we put on a little doggy sweater or hoody for our yorkie. The only problem is after we remove it, her hair is a tangled, wild mess. Is there anyway to avoid this at all (she has long hair, not short)


I guess one way to help it would be to remove the doggy clothing backwards, not over the head. The hair is always the worse up on the neck. Still, I bet it will not solve this problem completely.

This is an ongoing issues with long hair.
When I sew for my Yorkie I line everything with "slickery" fabric and that helps. I also spray the coat with Vellus Static Stabilizer and sometime the inside of the jacket too - I love that stuff in the winter!(and under clothes).

A friend of mind slightly wets her hands and rubs them on her Yorkie before putting clothes on her.

I do admitmthT I tend to prefer clothes/coats thT I don't have to put over the head- have even converted some sweaters & tee shirts to velcro or snap closures to avoid it.

Clothing can't be left on for too long. It must be removed & the pup needs to be brushed daily to prevent matting. Then they can wear their clothes again for warmth. Pay special attention to the areas that the clothing rubs on, like the neck, arm pits, underbelly, the sides. The arm pits & underbelly along w/inner thigh is considered high rubbing areas (it's also sensitive areas) & it should be shaved or trimmed short w/blunt nosed scissors.
Sweaters are very tangle producing...I don't put sweaters on my guys. But it doesn't get that cold here. You can layer the clothes, put a shirt/ tank on & a sweater over it.
