Katie Scarlett's Mommy Donating Member | Sewing Gadgets Raves & Rants Hey guys! Well idk about you guys, but as I continue learning to sew, I'm discovering all the neat tools and accessories available to us as sewing enthusiasts. So it got me to thinking....I wonder if the YT crew has experienced the same? I thought I would start us a thread to share any tips, tricks, or even let out frustration with our sewing gadgets. I'll start: First, my rave!!!! This may be a tool of common knowledge but I didn't discover it until a few weeks ago. Not only has it been a big help when making clothing for people (especially with a 5/8" seam that is on the majority of pants, tunics, and dresses I have tried), but also on doggy clothing. I'm not sure of the correct term, but its this little seam guide thingy that helps keep those seams straight and accurate. I love this thing!!!! Picture below My rant....this ruffler foot attachment! I'm sure it's more my error than anything but I hate this thing! Lol. I have tried many times and always end up frustrated! For me it's just easier to do it the old fashioned way of running the 2 basting stitches and gathering by hand. So share your rants and raves! I know we all have those favorite gadgets and ones we would love to bury under the fabric scraps. Lol

| This is going to be a great thread to follow. I really don't know much about sewing but I sure want to learn. For the most part I only do straight stiches. A ruffling foot attachment I never heard of one of those. |

YT 2000 Club Member | I have had a seam guide for many years. It looks different than yours....smaller and just a magnet that is easily adjusted. I would say, I love my magnetic pin holder! I keep it right beside my machine and the pins go on it as I sew. I can't think of something I really don't like. I so wish for a Serger Machine!

I hate my pins, guess I need to spend more money on them since they do not push in good and tend to ben easily. Do you like and still use your seam guide, my biggest challenge is to make even curves when sewing around the neck and the armholes, I am thinking a seam guide might be helpful for that,

YT 2000 Club Member | DBlain, I use my seam guide some, but it does not work on curves.....and no my machine does not have a computer in it. It is pretty basic..... I do not sew as much now as when my kids were little. I had a really nice machine back then, but it has since bit the dust! I now have a basic Singer machine.

| I like a gathering foot better than a ruffler.

| You have your ruffler set to do pleating.... if you move the setting over one more notch to the end it will tuck with each stitch, making a ruffle similar to one you do by hand. (Don't know if you knew this or not)

Katie Scarlett's Mommy Donating Member | That pic is just a basic photo I found online. It's not my actual machine.

Katie Scarlett's Mommy Donating Member | The picture I used is just one I found online but mine looks very similar. My machine came with it as a little extra. Well I say mine, it's actually my moms but she told me it was mine to use. Lol
