I'm a lefty and my sister a righty and we just had the one regular knitting book so I had to try to learn righthanded knitting. I can crochet and have made several afghans - one huge, like bedspread size. Later wondered why I did that but I couldn't stop as I was making it during the last weeks of my niece's pregnancy and I worked on it to keep from worrying. It was literally too big to use as who wants an crocheted bedspread - yuck and who needs an afghan almost the size of the actual country! But when I was making it, I just kept going and going and going. But I would like to learn to knit so much! You can really make things with knitting that look worth wearing or using. So much of crochet that isn't afghans or winter scarves or hats is awful - as in those terrible Barbie crocheted wedding dresses and crocheted vases and teddy bears!!! Ugh! | Maybe you could cut the bedspread down to a more manageable size... make a bunch of lap blankies, or take a corner triangle for a shawl/wrap.
I've seen so many beautiful sweaters, vests, cardigans, leg warmers, gloves and such both knitted and crocheted. On TV a lady even crocheted/knitted rugs! She used huge needles, hooks and hugh yarn, lol! Almost as big around as my wrist! Made cute little area rugs though!
I adapted a crocheted doll dress/ air freshener pattern to fit my Yorkie for last years Valentines Day Ball (I forgot I made that, lol). I was helping my neighbor make air-freshner covers for a Fire Hall event, good practice for me. Then I got the idea that they would fit my dog, if I made the bodice bigger, lol!
