				   | Sorry, this is not doggie fashion related, but I thought this was the best place to ask. I have a king size duvet cover that I want to cut down to queen size (tiny rooms in the new wee house, so smaller beds...) I'd like to make a pillow out of the fabric I'll be cutting off. As it will be narrow & long, I thought a neck roll type pillow would be best. I found a picture of how I'd like it to look, but don't know how to make the fabric cording shown where the top of the pillow meets the sides. Do I roll the fabric or put something in there to give it shape & if so, what? string? Here's a picture of what I'd like to make (with the exact same fabric). It's a Ralph Lauren Woodstock duvet, which is a discontinued pattern, so I don't want to goof and have one shot at making this right. Thanks for any tips.

				   | That will be beautiful, but with my limited sewing knowledge, I would have no clue how to do this without a pattern.

| Katie Scarlett's Mommy Donating Member | It's hard to tell for me, but is that piping? I know kjc did a little tutorial that had piping on it somewhere. You could always swap it out with decorative trim you can find at any craft store. Good luck with your project! I hope someone can help more than I!

I think I'll practice on scrap fabric and see if I can make it look like that by putting a variety of string/cording in it, before I use the little bit of good fabric I'll have.

				   | You can purchase the pillow form at JoAnns and usually there is a pattern and instructions with it. I did this for my bed and put tassels on the ends. |

				   | you can make the piping if you have the simplicity bais tape and piping maker, it makes it much easier but i am almost positive if you youtube search this there are vidoes that will show you how to make it w/o the machine. good luck.

				   | 8/32'' Diameter Cotton Piping 50yds*: home decor notions *: sewing & quilt*: *Shop | Joann.com I can't believe I am answering a sewing question but this is what I am pretty sure you need. not exactly sure how it works, you may have to turn the fabric inside and out and sew it together in long tube and then turn right side out and push the piping through, or you sew the fabric around the piping tube. There are probably directions or someone at the store can explain, but that is what you put underneath the fabric.

				   | Piping can also be purchased already made,it is found along with the bias tape at JoAnns. The best thing to use to sew piping in is a zipper foor for your sewing machine. If your machine will allow you to move the needle off center then it is alot easier. |

				   | Just a side note, for those that are learning to sew. There is a book called "The Sewing Bible" that can tell you how to do any technique that you could possibly want. I have been sewing for 33 yrs and I still look stuff up. |

That piping looks exactly like what I need...more substance than string..lol Hopefully I can buy it by the yard at the store and don't have to get 50 yards of it ![]() Love the tutorial! Explains how to do it very well. Seems like you have more sewing knowledge than you realize....looks like you'll have to buy a sewing machine too!
