Well, I took the plunge...guess what I bought...
 

After researching embroidery machines, I have finally ordered one. At the moment, I have just a beginners Brother machine that I love I might add. It was super easy to learn how to use on my own and it gets the job done well enough. I've seen so many beautiful embroidery creations not just for dogs but for everything so I want one. After getting feedback from you guys I decided that since I only have a basic sewing machine, that I would get a machine that does a combination of both embroidery and sewing. I wanted to get a machine that will last and a machine that does pretty embroidery work. I was really set on a Brother machine but after researching I found that Brother embroidery machines are formatted to only use Brother designs which most cost more money and the added software needed for the embroidery cost upwards of $600+++. This led me to the Singer machine that I purchased. It comes with all the software that I need to get started and more along with a 6x10 and a smaller hoop. It has the capacity to do quad hooping which will let me cover about a 11x18(or 11x25) space. I went searching online and found a 15% coupon for new customers (not the one that they send you that's 15% off up to $50. This one was 15% off up to $75 off) and shipping was free and it has pretty good customer reviews.

This is very similar to mine, but I think this is a newer model. I think you will love it. Looks like this machine is also a Serger? Mine is not. Anyway, it was very easy to use and the instructions are clear and easy to follow. One trick: always have a bobbin loaded before turning on machine. I made the mistake of turning it on without one and it started beeping and flashing lights like crazy. So I keep a bobbin in there because u can always change it after th machine is on. Good luck. Yay! I'm so glad you took the plunge with me. With my DH the software package sealed the deal. I showed him the prices to buy the software individually and we were sold. I can't wait until we get them. I'm with you, this is the only machine we will need.

Congratulations girls; know you will enjoy your machine's. I've had one for 2 year's they are just fab. I also bought a kenmore over lock. Just love these both.so much easier sewing.:p

I always loved using my serger but i don't sew anymore, but i sure enjoy all of you girls talking about it :)

Oh I know! The machine lists for $2300. on sale at HSN for $999.99... the software alone costs $1000. You can do big and little embroidery, and embroider from a photograph! And it'll embroider any font found on your computer! ANY FONT! (I'm a font freak!) I told my DH it was a no-brainer! I would feel stupid for not buying it!

HSN said they haven't been able to get them in to sell since last year and there was 350 left when I ordered... this machine is da bomb! I can't wait to get it! I downloaded the manual and have been studying it since yesterday!

I'll be going from a treadle to this... hahahaha! I still love my Singer treadle (1896 model) though... it sews through anything!

Oh and the main plus: It can use almost all the embroidery formats! I so happy!:D

oh wow, I LOVE IT,congrats to you both, I will get one soon, but for now I can't afford it, we had to replace our water heater and house filtration system and that wiped us out, I feel we pay alimony payments to our house.. :( can't wat to see that you girls come up with.. again enjoy them...

Oh don't I know it! We did the water heater... then the freakin fridge went up all right before Christmas! I got the machine on flexpay and told DH to get a 2nd job! (JK)....

I want to do a photo embroidery of Peek A Boo, and put it on all my clothes! Haha! Maybe just a blouse or two. And some jeans too.:D

My daughter wants me to do a pair of jeans and a tshirt for her. I'm not sure of the design she wants yet but that will be our first project. I also have a cute little cow print design that I want to do for Coco. I will share when I have completed them.

Mine is not scheduled until the 29th too.:( I so wish I would have taken advantage of expedited shipping. At least it will give me time to get the thread that I ordered last night.
