Everything becomes a new cat perch! (excuse the mess... wood for flooring and house torn apart... yes I needed to get this machine today!)

Whoa Nelly! Look at that box!!! And I love how the cats claimed it right away! You have beautiful cats! And I also love your coo coo clocks in the background. My Mom and I had the opportunity to visit Germany in 2004 to see my brother while he was stationed there and the clocks were just beautiful everywhere we went. I should of bought one! Mom did, but I did not.

Target 2?Day Sale: It's Here - YouTube

ROFL! This made me giggle!

kjc 05-23-2012 01:06 PM

OMG OMG OMG! I got it set up (just to sew)... man o man is this machine sweet! Easy, easy, easy bobbin winding and threading... took me longer to read the directions than it did to do the tasks!

Sews like a dream! Loving the speed control... tried some fancy stitches on scrap fabric... very smooth... no vibration at all... and soooo quiet... I could easily forget I'm sewing!

I am there... I am in sewing heaven!

Now... back to work! :D :D :D :D

PS My embroidery thread is not here... it'll probally take them a week just to pick my order, lol!

kjc 05-23-2012 01:12 PM

Oh boy! I just checked my thread order... per UPS! Yay!

A UPS shipping label has been created. Once the shipment arrives at our facility, the tracking status--including the scheduled delivery date--will be updated.

Haha! This is about 1/4 of my collection of coocoo clocks... I love them! Some need fixing but I'm concentrating on sewing right now... but in my spare time, lol. I want to get them on mostly one wall... for ease in winding. I love it when they all coo coo together!

Did you order from ThreadArt? Mine says it's due here May 29th:eek:. It left Houston last night. I hope I get it sooner... I may have to try the embroidery in black and white and regular cotton, lol!

I haven't loaded the software yet either. I have to study up on that part and decide which laptop I'm going to put it on... I forgot I had bought a backup laptop last year when my harddrive blew up.

I am going to try to sew a dress today... hopefully, then I'll mess with the software...

southernbelle04 05-24-2012 10:41 AM

Yay! I'm so glad you love the machine! That is so awesome! I showed the same machine to my hubby and he said once I get my laptop paid off (I did the flex pay on it too) he said I could order it!!!!!! Yay! It will be about 3 months though. I hope they will still have it at that price. In the meantime, I'm gonna live through you gals! Happy Sewing!!!!!!

Yes, I ordered from ThreadArt. I have received my order already. The shipping was really quick. I will continue to order my embroidery supplies from them because they are way cheaper than the stores. I successfully embroidered a t-shirt for my daughter after breaking 3 needles. There is a learning curve with the embroidery but boy do I love this machine. I know now that there is a difference between the really inexpensive machines and a good machine. I love it. I just have a lot to learn.

Good for you Aymee! I don't think you will be disappointed in this machine. Maybe by the time you get yours, Kathy and I will be able to help lessen the learning curve for you with this machine.

All heck broke loose here yesterday and is continuing today... haven't done a thing with the machine except to look at it and long to be sewing! My thread will be stuck in limbo over the weekend...:(

kjc 05-26-2012 09:14 AM

My thread order took 49 hours to get from Texas to Maryland... now it will sit for 4 days and it's only 30 minutes away! Lolololol!

JoAnne's has 50% off on stabilizers and velcro and all notions, online...

The Good news or the bad???

Okay, the Good: I got my machine to embroider...Yay!

Now for the bad: The software didn't load till about the 4th time I tried it... but we're good now. You have to have the machine plugged into the PC to open the program. Good news: After it is open, you can unplug the machine and pick out your design and edit it, the program stays functional till you close it.

More bad: Do not try to embroider any clothes you like until you get the hang of it, lol. I now have a t-shirt with my initials on it, with a hole under the initials where I tried to add a flower, lol. I reduced a design, and forgot to reduce the number of stitches which = holes! Haha! (That was with a heavy stabilizer under it too! Kind of shredded that, lol)

Still loving it though! :D

Thought I'd add a pic, lol! Now it doesn't look like a hole or I am blind.... it did get sucked into the machine so I stopped it....

I have a newfound respect for those who can do this... I can see it's going to take a lot of practice...

southernbelle04 05-26-2012 03:42 PM

Keep practicing so you'll be a pro when I start learning. Tee hee! ;).

Kathy, i totally agree. I also have a new respect for everyone that does embroidery. Its like an art and we have to master it. It will be a while before I can offer up my embroidery services...lol

My lil friend 05-27-2012 08:55 PM

I do freehand embroidery on my sewing machine. You are probably already doing this but the two things that I do that makes things easier for me are 1. stablizer such as stitch and tear or tear-away,2. I baste the stablizer to the fabric,it seems to keep the fabric from moving around on the stablizer.
Best of luck! Im looking forward to seeing your creations.

Thanks for the tips.... I also hopefully will have better results using actual embroidery thread, lol, a bit thicker than regular thread, plus I ordered a bunch of different stabilizers from JoAnn's Fabrics to try out (they're having a 50% off sale this weekend!). Also T shirts are a bit stretchy, maybe a fusible stabilizer would help there. It's going to be hard waiting for my supplies to arrive! LOL!

Perrella 05-28-2012 05:55 AM

Checking back to see what the latest was with the embroidery fever;). I'm so glad both machines has arrived. I bet there is so much to go over and learn, huh? You both are so excited...I know there will be great things to come:thumbup:
Hey, you KC is pretty good for using plain thread:)

Oh Thanks... I really needed to be sure everything works before my 30 days is up lol!

My thread arrived... except for the rayon... I called the company and they're sending it right out!

It's hard trying to remember everything... all the important stuff like what was that dial for and what does that green (orange, yellow, etc.) light mean? On the other side, I am getting proficient at sewing while holding the manual in one hand...lol!

Oh and where oh where did my feed dogs go? And what is this thingy for??? Hehehe! Major major brain cramping here!

I finally did a decent design...yay! My daughter picked out this hamburger design and I embroidered it on her t-shirt. I think I might be ready to try this on some of my doggie clothes....more to come. I'm starting to get excited but this sure is a lot of work.

Wow! That looks great! How long did it take to do?

I've been playing with some of the feet and attachments, I made 2 button holes, and tried some ruffling and pleating.

That is so cool Kathy....this machine actually does ruffles and pleats? How nice is that...cool:thumbup: Was button holes hard?

The hard part was figuring out how the attachment worked... for some reason my brain is not processing the 2 dimentional pictures in the manual, but after rereading the steps about 50 times, lol, I tried it and it works great! I sit and watch the machine do all the work. You clip a button the size you want the buttonhole for, into the end of the attachment then put it on the machine, line up the material, pull down the BH lever and sew! I know...TMI!

I tried the gathering foot for ruffles but I didn't get a good result, so I used a ruffler off my treadle Singer machine... it fit and worked perfectly!

Thanks guys! Kathy it took me about an hour and a half maybe more because I fell asleep on the machine..lol. It was 30,000+ stitches. I started out on low speed because I had previously broken several needles. I got sleepy toward the middle and sped it up and it did fine. There is a yahoo group that is dedicated to just these machines that you might want to check out called Futura Embroidery.
