| I started out with the Brother sewing/embroidery combo from HSN and fell in love with embroidery. The only downside is the small 4x4 hoop. I also purchased the Brother PE-770, and absolutely love it! The bigger hoop size allows for bigger designs, and for the price, I couldn't go wrong. I've already sold enough items to pay for the machines, and the requests keep coming in! I have a sewing room where the machines are all set up in one room, which makes it nice! I love the USB port to easily stitch out designs! Good luck on your decision!

| So which a better investment? I beginner's embroidery machine for less the price or a high end one for the long stretch. Just want an opinion on which is best, I know there's a lot of variables involved and that everyone is different but had to ask. |

| Walmart carries a Brother Embroidery only machine for >$300.00. I think they have a deal with Walmart bc I haven't been able to find it anywhere else! Walmart.com: Brother PE-500 Embroidery Machine: Appliances

| I was looking at that model online today...It looks like it would be a really decent machine for the hobby sewer.

| You'll end up spending that anyway. You need something to edit designs and maintain the stitch integrity. I finally cracked a few years into it and got a copy of Wilcom. Holy cow that was a hard program to learn but worth it in the end.

| Thanks.. followed your lead on this... major drawback with Brothers is you can only use Brother's designs... the Singer recognizes almost all the formats and uses them easily. I figured if I had to pay more for the software I might as well look for a better machine! Wilcom has a free editing program.... I haven't seen it but have seen it advertised....

I bought some at Joann's today that was 50% off but it was more than this with less thread on the spool. Polyester Machine Embroidery Thread | Polyester Thread | Machine Embroidery Thread | |
