So which pattern is this im confused wjat you mean instead of velcro. I see where the ribbon is weaved and ties on top but on bottom what holds it there where you normally put velcro

It is kind of hard to describe...the best way to explain I guess is think like a human wrap skirt or dress that ties. The ribbon is threaded through two button holes on one side and through one button hole on the opposite side.
