The one given to me was a Brother but the bobbin winder is broken. Is there a separate piece I can buy at the Hancock or JoAnn at an affordable price?

I looked it up,they are called "side winder". I saw them on Amazon if you want to order one. I am pretty sure that I have seen them at JoAnns as well.

| JoAnn's usually has a 40-50% off one item coupon each week if you sign up for their email sales flyers... as does Hobby Lobby too.

Thank you. I was hoping for a 50% off one item in-store coupon like last time. I will try to look for the side winder at JoAnns this weekend. Much appreciation!

Okay so I did more research. While the craft room is being built I was wondering about sewing machine tables. Are there recessed ones made to fit portable machines? Does anyone have a custom made table that will keep fabric flat while you sew (for instance large quilts, drapery, and the likes)? And for those with craft rooms, where do you situate your table? In the center of the room or against a wall? close to a window that brings in light or no? I'm loaded with questions but will appreciate the input! I'm trying to get an idea and a feel for my new working area.

There are 3 different places in the house that are for sewing. I have a space with a large table. I put a $20 cutting board over it. Not only does this protect the table but If I need for something to NOT move I can stick straight pins in the cardboard, usually if Im drafting a pattern or tacking trim onto a garment. Its only $20 so when it begins to look like swiss cheese I will just replace it. Where I sew most of the time is a large closet (two machines in cabinets, filing cabinet for patterns, plastic drawer container for notions and tall bookcase for flat fold fabric). The last room is a craft space in the making. Small bedroom with a vintage machine in a cabinet (found the cabinet at goodwill),this area is for sewing on leather. My grandmother's treadle machine is also in this room and a small dresser for storage. A pretty cabinet is hard to find, used to a sewing cabinet was a nice piece of furniture because ladies didnt have sewing rooms, their machines were usually in the den were they could keep an eye on the kids and kitchen. However now you can purchase modular style sewing spaces so you can have whatever you want. Google "sewing cabinets","sewing tables","sewing room"
