OT here i know, but what is the youngest age you would say a yorkie pup can leave it's mother? The breeder i know says she lets them go at 6 weeks if they are eating well,healthy and mature enough.. would you agree with this?

No, I dont agree. I feel it should be 12 weeks... Nooooo sooner then 10 weeks.. if they are doing well, eating well and so forth, but truly its best to wait till they are 12 weeks. If the breeder is saying she would let them go at 6 weeks I would say she is not a very good breeder.

Thanks for the response, generally i have heard 8 weeks is ok.

The breeder did say however if we want she has no problems keeping the puppy longer. I think she generally does care for the yorkies and she has been breeding them along time, sure i cannot say if she is genuine but she seems nice enough.

So would you say i definately collect the puppy at around 8-10 weeks? And are there any effects that could be bad to the puppy leaving at such a young age?

10 weeks should be fine if everything else with the puppy is great.. eating well and so forth.. during 6 weeks till this time they are learning alot of needed things from their mom and their litter mates.

Good luck with your puppy.. I would love to see pictures of your new lil one.. is it a boy or girl?

He is a boy

i have a photo of him at 4 weeks which is what he is now. I am unsure of what to do now i was going to wait till 8 weeks to collect him but many breeders i spoke to said 6-8 weeks

Your little girl is so cute...I love that last pic of her at 5 1/2 mths....didn't you keep her tail? Would love to see a pic showing her tail also. I think that is soo cute!

Yes, I did keep her tail.. The vet said she was struggling and he recommended that I did not have her tail docked. It looks so cute! They told me if I wanted to have it docked when she was spayed I could. My kids however want me to keep it.

I will make sure I post a pic where you can see her tail as well.

Thank you everyone.. I will have to post on here within the next two days pics of her with her tail. Sorry I had not got it on here sooner.. its been so hectic. My 3 girls and my lil sister all homeschool here.. Quite busy for me during the school year.. LOL
