Basically that is what happened to me this time around, and just to make you feel a little bit better, I was here 24/7 and I still had one deformed puppy with no sac, and a tiny girl that also died. So it happens. It was also my first lose. I hate the fact that we lose some of them, but its is just that, a fact. It still hurts to think of the poor babies. But like you we have two strong healthy babies. My two are so strong and getting so FAT!! I just love them!

I know I could not have ever done any of that, but that is why I never ever thought of breeding.

funny you say that cuz I have "C" names picked out for both of them. Cody and Chloe. I think I am keeping Chloe.

I'm sorry for the loss of your 2 little babies, but glad to see that mama and your other 2 babies are doing good.

The first time I bred my Prissie, she only had one little girl, and we lost her, she ended up in the birth canal too long, the vet worked on her for about 20 minutes to no avail. I thought I would never breed again, but I did, a year later Prissie had 3 healthy puppies, 2 boys and 1 girl. This past October, she had 3 puppies again, 2 girls and 1 boy; however we lost one of the little girls, after 20 days. She put up a fight and we did all we could for her, my husband and I fed her every 2 hours around the clock, she ended up at Texas A&M's small animal clinic twice. The last time she didn't come back, she was just so tiny, she was a third the size of her other 2 littermates, and her eyes and ears hadn't opened yet. Prissie was a good mommy to her, she never once pushed her away, she would stimulate her to urinate, she would clean her and snuggle with her, if Prissie was capable I'm sure she would've force fed her baby herself, unfortunately they are unable to do so, so we took over with the feeding. But we always gave her right back to Prissie when we finished feeding, she would give her a good once over and then snuggle up with her. It was very hard letting her go, my husband and I had decided we were going to keep her as we had grown so attached and we knew she was probably going to have problems down the road and we were prepared for that but she didn't make it home from the last visit to the clinic. We took her in because she stopped feeding, she was crying out and her body temp. was dropping, they kept her that whole day and overnight, when we went to go visit her the next day we had to make the horrible decision to let her go. We know it was the best decision as she was in pain and her health was deuterating. I will be breeding Prissie again this September for the last time. She has been such a good little mommy.

That post was such a good example of WHY only people who know what they're doing should breed...I have a terrible feeling this happens way more than we'd like to think with even worse endings & You're right - it's NOT for the faint hearted. I only Helped with my neighbors dog once and that was enough for me - I would be so stressed going thru something you just described.

First, Karen's babies were born on July 4th and 5th. The two surviving babies are just beautiful
