| How much weight should pups put on each day? Megs pups are 3 different sizes,Minnie the little girl is the smallest at 5.5 oz, Mickey is 6 oz and Goofy is 8 oz and hes gaining aroung 2 oz per day,the little ones are only gaining 1 oz per day,Im not worried as they are all happy, sleeping and hardly ever make a sound (only if Meg treads on one by accident!!) I was just wondering if thats ok? They are 2 1/2 days old!!! Also Megan just didnt want to go back into the bed with them, its the first time she has willingly left them since she had them (ive been taking her onto the yard for the toilet and carrying her back) and shes always been in such a hurry to get back! But just a minute ago she went into her cat igloo instead of back to the babies,I coaxed her back in and then she was sick. We cleaned it up and now she is lying back down with them happy,do you think its just the hot weather we are having that shes not used to or is it symptoms of anything else? (I worry a lot!!!) |

| take your moms temp...if it is elevated about 103 she may have an infection and should be taken to the vet ASAP. As long as your kids are gaining, not losing daily theyre doing good. I weigh daily 3 times a day for the first two weeks for peace of mind. hope this helps

| A lot of moms get sick (diarreah) after pups, I think it is hormones, plus eating placentas. I only let them have one placenta. I noticed my girl who has 13 day old pups had some terrible diarreah for the first 4 days or so, now it is solid and normal. It may be natures way of making things a little easier on them those first few days...that area "back there" is sore, so softer poo would be easier to pass, IMHO. Wow your pups are really growing! My 13 day olds are 8.5 and 7.5 ounces..LOL!

| The new pups should put on at least a few "tenths" of an ounce per day... if your pups are gaining a few ounces a day... GEEZ... they sure will be big and healthy!!!

| Take feminvstr's advice and monitor Mom's temperature for infection in case she is avoiding the pups because of mastitis (breast infection). Sounds like your pups are extremely healthy and doing great. Mine usually weigh about 4 oz. when born and they usually gave 1/2 ounce to 1 ounce over 3 days so much less than yours are gaining. Good job Megan. |

| Hello! We left Megans cage open yesterday evening and all last night and shes now letting herself out for a roam round the garden for the toilet and if I go out with her she will roll on her back for it to be rubbed, after a couple of minutes she trots back in to the pups again. I think she just needed a breather when she didnt go in the cage before. Thanks for the advice,Im taking her to the vets tomorow just for another check up but she appears to be fine now.The pups are almost 4 days old and my hubby and I are sat here looking t them and it seems physically impossible that they came out of Meg only 4 days ago!! The biggest boy is huge!! Meg looks after them all really well, the little girl always lies between Megs front legs. It just looks like Megs cuddling her, sooooooooo sweet!! |
