| Any idea on adult sizes? This is Piyo, he is my first Yorkie and I love him to pieces. I want to get him started on a flea&tick prevention, my two other dogs (Boston Terrier and American Bulldog) are on Trifexis so I'd like to put Piyo on it too but the vet is afraid he may never get big enough to be put on it. 1. Does anyone have a guesstimate on how big he could grow to? He is 18 weeks old and about 1.80 lbs give or take a couple ounces. I posted a picture I took this morning to show his size, he looks like a giant next to a water bottle but for another idea he is also about the size of a house slipper. 2. Does anyone have any recommendations for flea&tick treatments if he can't be put on Trifexis? I've used frontline before but I like that trifexis also prevents heartworm. |

| Hi, This is from the FAQ page of yorkietalk.com: ------------------------------------------------------------------ How much will my Yorkie pup weigh as an adult? * You can get a rough idea of your puppy’s eventual adult height and weight by doubling the puppy’s height and weight at 13 weeks of age. Also knowing the weight of your puppy’s parents can give you an idea too. There normally are no guarantees on how much your puppy will weigh when he/she is an adult. Some breeder’s might put a guarantee for weight on their contract, but seldom do you find such a guarantee. Genetics is almost impossible to determine. ------------------------------------------------------------------ If you look on the site, you can also find an age/weight chart that is more accurate, but considering the size of your puppy at 18 weeks, I doubt he'll ever get bigger than 4 pounds. If I can find the age/weight chart info, I'll post it here. |

| It looks like your little boy will be really small. Here is a link to a weight chart that I like to use: Looking for a Puppy Weight Chart?

YT 2000 Club Member | I just had Tatiana treated with Frontline and she is only 2.2 lbs and 20 weeks. My vet measures out the correct amount according to her weight. We treated all three yorkies with 1 vile with some left over! I also give Heartgard Plus for heartworm prevention. Your puppy is very cute!

| Piyo is an adorable little furball!! Congratulations! I use Revolution as well. It's for heartworm prevention as well. I've heard mixed reviews about Revolution. But personally, I haven't had a problem with it. I use it on my 2 Yorkies & my Lab. The purple package is for dogs from 5-10 pounds. I've used that on my 4 pounder with no problems. Good luck with your new puppy!!!

| They're definitely at the high end of the weight chart, but that could be due to their genetics. There are purebred Yorkies that can weigh as much as 10 pounds as adults, so as long as your vet says they are in good health, I wouldn't worry about it. I would guess that your Yorkies will weight close to 7 or 8 pounds as adults, and my Bella will weight close to 6 pounds (she's also near the top of the weight chart). |
