| Nervous first time yorkie mommy! Hi everyone! I am a first time Yorkie mommy, and a first time dog mommy (having dogs at mom and dads house don't count right? ) I am getting my little 12 week old boy, Digby, on Friday and I am really nervous. I so badly want to raise a good dog, but I am scared! I have read tons of books, tons of posts on here, tons of websites. I couldn't be more prepared, I have know idea where this fear is coming from! I think I just need some reassurance from all of you great Yorkie mommy's and daddy's out there that have done this before and that everything is going to be fine. Any help would be great! Thanks!!! |

| Congrat's on your new baby. I am sure you will do just fine. A lot of people get nervous over the first baby they get. As long as you feed them, love them, get them Vet checked, the rest will fall into place. If you do have any questions along the way, I am sure there is someone on here that can help. There are many knowledgeable people on this site. Best of Luck with Digby. And don't forget to show us pictures.

| My only advice to you is, experiencing it is way different from living it. You have a leg up over me. Kaji is my first dog ever! Enjoy your new baby. We're here if you need us.

| I think your just anxious to meet him already! I'm sure you'll be a great mom with all the research you did and majority will be mommy instincts once you have Digby in your hands! Good luck to you and Digby!

| Congrats on your new baby Digby.(cute name) I think you will be a great mama. You have done your homework and being prepared is the first step. You cared enough to do whatever you needed to do to be ready. And that says a lot. I have 4 kids and I was having doubts of being a great mama to my furbaby. I think it's natural to have that kind of anticipation. Show pics of Digby when you get a chance. And welcome to the YT forums.

| Congratulations! I know that you don't think it counts, but I think that spending time with other dogs is definitely a big plus. When I first got Teddy I had zero interaction with other dogs (except for when I went to a friend's house) and I was extremely nervous with Teddy! You will be fine, and you're doing all the right things by informing yourself before you get your baby. Training a puppy is really hard work but there is a lot of good information here, and a lot of people who are ready and willing to help. You will be fine...and if I can do it anyone can!

| Digby's First Night He came home yesterday and Digby's first night went great. I slept next to his crate so i could put my hand on the door if he cried and he only cried once. He made it through the night without needing to use the potty and then went to his spot and did his business right after we got up this morning!! I am so proud of him! We've only been up for an hour an a half, but we've had breakfast, play, more pottytime and now he's napping. I am in love!! I posted some pictures of him in the picture gallery part of the forum. definitely more of those to come!!! |
