| Mimi's 1st Litter on Fathers Day My female Mimi had her 1st litter today this is the 1st time she has ever been bred also it was my male Spanky's 1st time breeding. She is a little bigger female at about 10lbs. and Spanky is about 6 or 7 lbs. She had an extremely easy labor i was a little scared because this is her 1st breeding but mother nature kicked in and she has done and doing everything a good mother should do. She had 7 pups (yes 7) i think there are 6 males and 1 female i will know for sure maybe in a couple days as i didnt want to handle them too much i wanted Mimi to stay as relaxed and comfortable as possible. All pups are healthy so far and hopefully that will continue. I will be posting pics in the next few days. Last edited by que; 06-19-2011 at 06:35 PM. |

Donating YT 4000 Club Member | Wow, that is a big litter, congratulations, my silkie is 11 pounds and had 5 babies on friday morning. make sure she eats very well at least 5 meals a day and please have Calcium handy, with a big litter like that you want to make sure her calcium does not go too low.. my girl gets two high calcium pills a day one in the morning and one before bed, one scrambled egg in the morning, and a meal of boiled liver mixed with her kibble. lots of fresh water and a bit of whelping pudding to make sure she is getting all her nutrional needs taken care of.. best of luck.. | Update...We lost a male this morning not really sure of the problem but suddenly she pushed him away but from what ive read it seem kind of like fading puppy syndrome. Despite all efforts of bottle feeding and trying to keep him warm he lost the battle this morning. I know these things happen but i just dont know what went wrong so its been worrying me. The 1st day they all were nursing very well im just puzzled why this one pup didnt make it all i can say is we did everything that the emergency clinic said to try and keep him alive. All the others seem to be healthy and still nursing as they should. Congratz on your litter also Rockys and thx to everyone who replied!!! |
