I have an adorable maltipoo, he was totally free. Didn't cost a dime. Mixed breeds are mutts, mistakes. I don't understand why anyone would pay an exorbitant amount of money for a mutt. Why would you not look in your own neck of the woods instead of half way across country. Did you read that recent article about the poor puppies that died in transit? Mixed breeds don't only grow in the Midwest. You cannot come onto an open forum, talk about things that go against our very core and then expect us not to give opinions. Accepting those opinions graciously requires a certain level of maturity that you evidently do not wish to display. You cannot learn without an open mind and we cannot celebrate what we know to be the perpetuation of an inherent wrong. |

So I think we already have this breeders number! |

The Yorkie owners (the majority of them) on this forum are very informative and helpful. They were trying to warn you about this kennel. But, there is none so blind as those that will not see. You made up your mind that you did not care that you were supporting puppy mills and were going to go ahead and buy this puppy rather than look for a reputable breeder to buy a puppy from. I only hope you are able to afford all the vet bills you will most likely have following your decision. I had puppy mill rescues for 10 years. It is heartbreaking knowing the life they had before they were taken into rescue. Yet, I can almost guarantee that the people that bought puppies from these puppy mills thought that the breeders were great, that the puppies would be great and they would be getting a lovely, healthy puppy. This is the article on this one puppy mill: Pet-Abuse.Com - Animal Abuse Case Details: Puppy mill - 400 poodles - Tampa, FL (US) Not only were there over 400 poodles, there were Yorkies and dachshunds as well. I took in some of the dachshunds - when I found out about the rescues, someone had already rescued the Yorkies and a friend talked me into helping with the dachshunds. Many of them had heartworms! One of them actually died within a few weeks of me getting her because her heartworms were so bad the vet couldn't save her. Everyone of the rescues had problems. Ginger had a club foot, and could only run around on three legs. Nutmeg, when I got her had a tag on her that said "435", it was her number at the puppy mill! Who would love the dogs they breed from and just give them a number????? I could go on and on about puppy mills, but I would be wasting my breath. You have already made up your mind. I will keep you and your morkie in my prayers as you will need them.:animal-pa |
A puppy mill puppy. I don't remember much of the place where I was born. It was cramped and dark, and we were never played with by the Humans. I remember Mom and her soft fur, but she was often sick, and very thin. She had hardly any milk for me and my brothers and sisters. I remember many of them dying, and I missed them so. I remember the day I was taken from Mom. I was so sad and scared, my milk teeth had only just come in, and I really should have been with Mom still, but she was so sick, and the Humans kept saying that they wanted their money and were sick of the "mess" that me and my sister made. So we were crated up and taken to a strange place. Just the two of us. We huddled together and were scared, still no Human hands came to pet or love us. So many sights and sounds and smells! We are in a store where there are many different animals! Some that squawk! Some that meow! Some that peep! My sister and I are jammed into a small cage. I hear other puppies here. I see Humans look at me through the glass. I like the "little humans", the kids. They look so sweet, and fun, like they would play with me! All day we stay in the small cage, sometimes mean people will hit the glass and frighten us, every once in a while we are taken out to be held or shown to humans. Some are gentle, some hurt us, we always hear "Aw they are so cute! I want one!" but we never get to go with any of them. My sister died last night, when the store was dark. I lay my head on her soft fur and felt the life leave her small thin body. I had heard them say she was sick, and that I should be sold at a "discount price" so that I would quickly leave the store. I think my soft whine was the only one that mourned for her as her body was taken out of the cage in the morning and dumped. Today, a family came and bought me! Oh happy day! They are a nice family, they really, really wanted me! They had bought a dish and food and the little girl held me so tenderly in her arms. I love her so much! The mom and dad say what a sweet and good puppy I am! I am named Angel. I love to lick my new Humans! The family takes such good care of me, they are loving and tender and sweet. They gently teach me right and wrong, give me good food, and lots of love! I want only to please these wonderful people! I love the little girl and I enjoy running and playing with her. Today I went to the veterinarian. It was a strange place and I was frightened. I got some shots, but my best friend the little girl held me softly and said it would be okay. So I relaxed. The vet must have said sad words to my beloved family, because they looked awfully sad. I heard Severe Hip Dysplasia, and something about my heart... I heard the vet say something about back yard breeders and my parents not being tested. I know not what any of that means, just that it hurts me to see my family so sad. But they still love me, and I still love them very much! I am six months old now. Where most other puppies are robust and rowdy, it hurts me terribly just to move. The pain never lets up. It hurts to run and play with my beloved little girl, and I find it hard to breathe. I keep trying my best to be the strong pup I know I am supposed to be, but it is so hard. It breaks my heart to see the little girl so sad, and to hear the Mom and Dad talk about it might now be "the time." Several times I have went to that veterinarians place, and the news is never good. Always talk about Congenital Problems. I just want to feel the warm sunshine and run, and play and nuzzle with my family. Last night was the worst. Pain has been my constant companion now, it hurts even to get up and get a drink. I try to get up but can only whine in pain. I am taken in the car one last time. Everyone is so sad, and I don't know why. Have I been bad? I try to be good and loving-what have I done wrong? Oh if only this pain would be gone! If only I could soothe the tears of the little girl. I reach out my muzzle to lick her hand, but can only whine in pain. The veterinarian’s table is so cold. I am so frightened. The Humans all hug and love me.They cry into my soft fur. I can feel their love and sadness. I manage to lick softly their hands. Even the vet doesn't seem so scary today. He is gentle and I sense some kind of relief for my pain. The little girl holds me softly and I thank her, for giving me all her love. I feel a soft pinch in my foreleg. The pain is beginning to lift, I am beginning to feel a peace descend upon me. I can now softly lick her hand. My vision is becoming dreamlike now, and I see my Mother and my brothers and sisters, in a far off green place. They tell me there is no pain there, only peace and happiness. I tell the family goodbye in the only way I know how-a soft wag of my tail and a nuzzle of my nose. I had hoped to spend many, many moons with them, but it was not meant to be. "You see," said the veterinarian, "Pet shop puppies do not come from ethical breeders." The pain ends now, and I know it will be many years until I see my beloved family again. If only things could have been different. |

Unconditional Love Foundation If you don't want to end up in tears then you won't want to surf this site. It is heartbreaking seeing some of the puppy mill puppies. |

I really hope the OP takes the time to read it and to look at the uncondional love foundation's website, then maybe she will realise what she is doing by supporting these evil people. :(:thumbdown |
Okay i dont know why you all think shes a puppy mill breeder just bcause she has a lot of dogs i talked to her and she has 2 houses for the dogs one for the newborn puppies and one for the adults. the adults are allowed to go out of their kennels as they please exept at night and the mothers are allowed to be with all their pups until they are either sold or old enough to be with the other adults. She welcomes everyone to come and check out all the puppies and their homes and she obviously takes the puppies out because in all the pics that i received she is outside in a flowerbed or running around in her fenced in backyard! Looks like a happy puppy to be and not being torchered and forgoten like a puppy mill puppy. And just because you found stuff online doesn't mean that its true you should know that and who knows how long ago some of that stuff is about the pet stores! She reassured me about everything and she even had pics of all the kennels adn when i looked at google maps the same 2 buildings were there making me believe that the pics aren't fake. Some of you may think shes a puppy mill but you don't have the right to judge people without all the facts she may just be a big dog breeder who loves what shes doing! wouldn't you love to have that many puppies running around as long as you knew they were all taken care of and loved which they are?! All these pups are very happy and the reviews of her kennel are amazing so don't judge a book by it's cover because you don't have all the facts and are just assuming because i have all i need to know about her and tha'ts good enough for me! i understand why you guys are doing what your doing and i completly agree and thank you for all your determination and caring but shes not a puppy mill and i don't think that for MANY reasons i looked up day and night researching puppy mill info and that is totally not what her kennel is!!!! puppy mill pupys get abused and hurt and are treated with no respect and are almost always under no right conditions of living unlike the climate controlled facilities that she has and not to mention how well kept and clean they are!!! but thanks for all that info and i hope by reading this some people out there will know what to look for and that its not just a breeder with a ton of puppies even of that is a little turning off it doesn't have anything to do with being a puppy mill or not! |
I am in such tears from that story. Thank you for sharing that. |
Meghan, you have received advice from those with knowledge. It is up to you to take or reject the advice given. My father always said, "there is none so blind as those that will not see" You have obviously decided to buy this puppy and there is obviously nothing anyone can say to convince you otherwise. Just make sure you are able to financially cover any problems that often arise from buying from puppymills and BYB that are breeding for the money and not for the betterment of the breed. |
Cant fake the fact she is listed on the USDA's 2010 commerical breeders' list. http://www.aphis.usda.gov/animal_wel...rt_holders.txt Selling to pet stores proves she really doesn't care where her puppies go... |

Out of curiosity, have you talked to anyone who has bought a puppy from this breeder? Are you confident that you can call her anytime, day or night AFTER you bring your puppy home if something should arise? Most if not all of the "commercial breeders" cut off all contact once the exchange of puupy/money has been made. Then you are left all alone if you have a question or if something happens. Of course, the folks here at YT will absolutely jump in to help you out... |
We have shared why Meghan I truly wish and hope for the best for you and your puppy; it seems like you will go ahead with this purchase. Remember that we will be here for you, when this "breeder" will likely not be. Please if you can ask her about what breed specific tests have been done on the parents. These are Bile Acid Test (BAT), CERF for PRA (Progressive Retinal Atrophy), OFA Xrays and evualtion for patellas, hips, and elbows. Heart and Thyroid. Your pup will need to be tested at 16 wks and then repeat again with the BATS test. Liver shunt is not rare in this breed, and is a condition that needs to be recognized early, and treated early. And just so you know her health guarantee does not cover Liver Shunt. PRA is genetic and over time your dog goes blind. Again not covered by your health guarantee. The Xrays will tell you about the health of the joints. Some dogs have crippling diseases that causes severe pain every time they take a step. Treatment is expensive, and often involves surgery. Some of these conditions are genetic, particularly when they show up in a young dog. Again Not covered by your health guarantee. Finally cardiomyopathy is an enlargement of the heart, which leads eventually to an early death. Again not covered by your health guarantee. The very best advice I can give you besides NOT to buy from this BREEDER, is to purchase IMMEDIATELY a good pet insurance that will Cover Genetic Defects. |

This breeder has hundreds of dogs that are not in her home, these are not pets, this is a business, IMO. Are you visiting her home, her kennel? Are you seeing all the breeding dogs, puppies? People here are very passionate about Yorkies and most would NEVER buy from a USDA breeder who keeps their dogs in kennels and not in their homes like pets and sells to pet stores and anyone that has the cash available! It's heart breaking to me to think of Yorkies living in kennels in buildings. Yorkies love to be around people. |

The fact that your new baby may be a mixed breed isn't making or breaking this breeder for me. That is a very minor fact. Everything else you are describing about their breeding ETHICS and practices is what make most of the YTers want to cringe. Do you really want a to have a puppy whose parents are condemned to suffer a life of being nothing but baby making machines? Who, by the way will not help you when times get tough as even a tripod dog, a dog with liver shunt, LP, or any other number of diseases can and will still be an awesome pet? Do you see why this breeders claim to exchange (or is it refund?) a dog that can no longer serve as a "pet" is such a broad statement to protect the breeder from any fault? Personally, after reading on this forum that is made of other yorkie, morkie, or any other breed of dog, moms and dad that share their personal experience, I choose to not make the same mistake I made and my fellow members made. Why even go there when there is a better option? You can get a quality pet from a magnificent breeder if you just do your homework and know what to look for. #1 thing is someone who stands behind their breeding. That means, 2 yrs or 7 or 10 yrs after purchasing the pup, the breeder still has contact with you and is willing to lend a hand in helping you when your pup takes a turn for the worse. After finding an awesome person, then you find the awesome dog. Someone who has the time to take of the bitch and puppies him or herself in their home, who knows the dogs ancestry for at least 3 generations, and has them in their home. Your puppy is going to be in your home, so shouldn't it start out that way? Shouldn't they learn what living in a home is at an early age? |

My reply in blue, and my reply under quote... Quote:
She does it for money, ergo a miller, bc.... She has lots of dogs and lots of different breeds including mixed breeds. She has them outside not in her home. She has employees. She sells to anyone online. She sells to petstores. She is on the USDA list. She has a health guarantee that basically covers nothing. Should I go on? All those are FACTS not opinion. |
She does NOT ship befor 8 weeks you should know that you have been doing all this research and yes in the beginning she asked if i wanted to stop by the kennel and i told her i live to far away but we might come over if we get the chance because we were going near there on vacation but ended up npt wanting to go out of the way because we were already behind schedual. Also it doesnt matter anymore so i dont see why your still posting i already said i apretiate all this info but i made my decision and im going to adopt her no matter what all your opinions are and you need to understand that maybe for once your say doesnt matter to someones decisons. Thanks though! ; ) |

may as well give it up ladies. Meghan is obviously supporting a puppy mill and even though she has been aware of the fact, she has chosen to support this woman. She has done her "research" - which obviously just entails talking to the breeder on the phone. If she had really done her research she would be running, not walking away. Obviously Meghan has the thousands of dollars put aside that she is probably going to need for the probable vet bills that come up from buying from puppy mills. She needs to read this: ASPCA | Puppy Mills |

For those of you who live in Missouri |
Excitement of getting your new little baby is what got you to post on this site, and I know you just wanted to share that with everyone, and you wanted everyone to be excited for you. People on this site are really really well informed and have done a lot of work to get you all the information you need. Like I said before, in the end, this decision is yours and no one elses. You can chose to take yourself off of this site, but I'm feeling that you may have some doubts about your decision. I hope so because then that means that the hard work of all these well informed people is working. Please, please think again. You probably have put a deposit down and don't want to lose you money now and that is what is probably keeping you fighting for this puppy (and its cute too). I know that is hard. (See if you can ask for your money back - its only a question. You don't know the answer unless you ask). I know....... All I can say that I wish you all the best of luck - to you and to your new little morkie, wherever you chose to get her from. May she be healthy and live a long and happy life with you caring for her. |
