JaLa's Newest Arrivals...Hope & Magic :)
 

On Christmas Eve we were blessed with new little bundles, although born premature and endless around the clock care these two wee ones seem to be just blossoming! I am so completely in love with them both...and have no idea if I will ever part with either of them...

Hope (female) is now 10 ounces at 13 days old and her brother Magic is 9.0 ounces! :D

They are babies from our Espe and Elvis! Hope you enjoy watching them grow! These are their pictures from last monday...I will post more tomorrow when they will be 2 weeks old :D

Congrats, they are sooooo cute and precious. My boys and I can't wait for our Luna to have babies. But we can't start trying until this summer. Can't wait to see your little ones grow. It seems like they grow soooo fast!!!!!

Well they were born on day 59, do 4 days early from the first breeding, but you have to remember that puppies are due 63 days from the day the female ovulates, not the day they were fertilized...however we know they were early as they barely had hair on their heads, it was thin on their bodies (almost appeared bluish the first day), and they had no hair below their elbows and knees...when they were 4 days old...they looked full term to me...so my guess is 4 days. All of our other yorkie puppies have opened their eyes when they were 13-15 days old...I am waiting to see when they will open theirs...

They are growing though and every time I look at them I think they own another piece of my heart! I will take new pics of them tomorrow...they will be 2 weeks old! :)

Thank you everyone for the compliments on these two little bundles...I just love em' :D I am very hopeful one or both will be able to be shown...keeping my fingers crossed and praying :)

The babies are 2 weeks old...eyes are still closed, but I do think they are starting to hear more! Little Miss Hope is 10.5 ounces and Mr. Magic is 9.5 ounces...they are very fat and sassy!!! LOL

No problem, none of my Bell's babies opened their eyes before 3 weeks.

As far as premies, I had a few in Bell's last litter. (day 58) It was hard, with around the clock care and feeding. But so worth all the fuss and sleepless nights!

I am not worried about their eyes...I expect them to open in the next 4 days or so...they will open when they are ready...I am just excited to see their eyes! :)

Janet, Espe is feeding them now...she had a really rough time of it...but has been feeding them since they were 3 days old...and they have not missed a beat since then! The first few days were really tough, because their mom was sick also...so I was treating her and the babies around the clock over Christmas...I missed Christmas Eve with my family...but was able to get to see them for a short time on Christmas Day! Espe and babies of course went with me..lol...it was a long first week...and I think I am finally caught up on rest..lol...

I'm sooo glad they ended up back on mom for you, I had one I had to handrear for 3 weeks before he would nurse and it was harder than having a newborn human!!!

What beautiful little angels...

Well it is a bit of a long story....She came down with a severe bout of gastroenteritis (non-hemorrhagic thank god) from overeating (too much fat intake) on the Friday before she whelped...I spent the whole day in the clinic with her on my lap hooked up to IV's...she was becoming dehydrate, hypoglycemic, and hypoglycemic from vomiting, diarrhea, not eating and the puppies taking everything she did have! From there we drove her to the emergency clinic (1.5 hrs away), I was up all night calling to see how she was (as were her two vets) and then we were able to pick her up at 9 am the next morning...took her from there to a gal that focuses mostly on reproduction (Dr. Lori Hunt) and she thought Espe may deliver early because of the stress on her body from being sick and hospitalized...

We took her home and she slept almost non-stop for 2 days then she went into labor Monday morning bright and early! The placentas were not detaching even though she was in labor, she she then required a c-section...I was so afraid we were going to lose her as she was weak from being sick in the first place. It was horrible experience.

Since I am a tech...our vet sent her home with her IV in and I gave her fluids every 3o minutes, injectable pain meds, boiled chicken, antibiotics and calsorb around the clock...and hand raised pups! I never stopped moving Christmas Eve...Espe would not even lay with them...she would literally try to run from them...but something clicked on Christmas afternoon and she decided they were hers and she wanted them! <whew>, so I was up for a couple more nights constantly checking them and doing some feedings for her...now she is super mom and fabulous with them! Thank goodness!

Wow, you and her went through quite a bit there. Glad to hear everything worked out. Now you can both sit back and enjoy these precious babies. I'm looking forward to watching them grow.
