Hello Linda!!

I have to say Valentino is sooooooo cute! I would grab him up in a heartbeat! But I think DH would kill me if I got ANOTHER yorkie after allowing to get 3 at a time! :p lol... Valentino is just so cute though!! :)

Thanks for explaining. You'd be surprised at the things that are posted on YT. If I remember correctly, there was a yorkie owner that basically starved her pup because she wanted her pup to be "sexy and skinny" like her.

I'm still confused. Its genetics not protein, that determines how big they will get. Are you talking about preventing a Yorkie from being overweight or controlling their full grown size?

of course preventing from being over weight.i have my own english bulldogs and i don't engage in animal cruelty.i love my puppies!

Sorry, it was just very confusing the way it was worded because no one can guarantee what a puppy will weigh as an adult and excess protein has nothing to do with their weight unless they are in their senior years. I would still recommend getting an adult Yorkie as well if you have an absolute weight limit.

Why the weight limit? Are you wanting to breed? Most sellers on here sell with limited registrations only.

the protein thing was what ive been told by a vet.ya i am breeding in the future.well im VERY suprised at how judgemental and rude people were to me on this forum like i've never owned a dog. so now i probably won't get one from here now. :confused:

I certainly had no intention of being rude. I justed wanted you to know that most sellers on here sell their pups with limited registration. If you are wanting to breed you should ask them if they are selling them with full registration rights. However, it will be difficult for someone unfamiliar with the breed to find a seller on here willing to sell them a dog with full registration.

Regardless, I am glad you are here. It takes a lot of research before you can start breeding Yorkies successfully. You're in the right place and hopefully you will get the answers to your questions here and find a mentor to help you along the way.

i am on here to find out as much as possible but i am not sure whether this is the board i want to stay with.i am not brand new to the breed. i don't think people need to be so immature and disrespectful. :thumbdown once again i know how to take care of a dog!

well I am sorry if you took offense at my post. We have had two or three people come on here and talk about not feeding their dogs so they will stay small. the way you worded your post sounded a lot like that.

As I said earlier don't get bent out of shape over opinions. Several ppl have appologized wouldn't you say its time to accept their appologies and move on to being happy again. Take a deep breath and relax, no one was trying to personally attack you.

There is a difference between taking care of a dog and being a good breeder. I'm sure you take very good care of your dogs. You're starting off the right way by coming on here to do your research first. You might want to try the breeder section. Since you are currently looking for a Yorkie to breed, they can help tell you what to look for. Since you already know the breed, you know that Yorkies tend to take on traits of the grandparents more so than the parents. So you may want to ask some questions regarding the weight of the grandparents while looking for you new baby.

is this not you? pardon me if I read it to think you are not familiar with yorkies yet here you say, " I am not new to the breed". i found this post from yesterday. we are only trying to help you and as someone else said, why get bent out of shape.


I am purchasing my first yorky soon and i don't know what kind of food to give to my baby.What would be the best dog food for yorkies? Do i switch foods when it gets over one year?
