I'm not a breeder and I know everyone is different.... But when she asked me what I would do... I told her I would pay more for the adult. At least I would know what I was getting! With a puppy there is no way of knowing what your in for! How many Times have we read posts about new owners that went and paid some crazy price for a puppy that was supposed to be 3lbs or smaller and at 6months they are worried cause "Buster" is tipping the scales at 5.5 and they are wanting us to tell them that they won't keep growing! When we all know they are on track to hit 9 or 10! They are all tiny at 8 weeks! lol And the shouldn't even be going home till 10 or 12. Yes do your homework and whatnot, and lots of those people did... but even then you cant be sure what a pup will mature to. Unless you are buying from some of the best show breeders who carry the best lines and who have sound breeding programs and because of years of breeding their line can tell you roughly what you can expect.... you cant be sure. I wish it was as easy as cookie cutter, you get what you pay for buying... but it isn't always so. Your getting a puppy that will grow to become a dog, you won't know till that puppy grows up what that dog will be... Half the fun is watching that happen... its also all the work, lol Anyway.... I don't want to start a debate... I just thought it was funny that its been said since I just went through this with a friend. :) |
I just now when I was looking into a female, oh, it has been awhile back, she was older and the people were asking $600 for her, everyone here thought it was too much....$600! Okay, I am going to search for that thread to make sure. Of course, you can imagine, she found a home and it was a good home. Too, I think most people look for puppies because for one, they are cute, and they get to know them and they get to "raise" them, etc. Myself, Mojo was a puppy and that is what I wanted...now, the rescue dogs have all been older. If I had to pay for another dog (especially a higer price), it would more than likely be a puppy because that would be what my daughter would really want. Like you said, everyone has their own opinions and thoughts about it. I think though, if I found the perfect one, it wouldn't matter..... Since you offered Paris to Misty for free, is there not somone else local that would be a good home for her that you know? |
Okay, I found the thread and it was for an older, 2lb female, but she didn't have her papers. They were wanting $500 and the reason I didn't get her, was because she already went to a good home (they kept her in the family, just not in their home, they were needing money to pay some medical bills). Anyway, if you can find a good home for her (one that she sooo deserves), that is what matters. I know, you might worry about getting a certain amount for her (and that is your right because she is yours), but a good loving home is more important (well, in my eyes)...course, I woudn't sell Mojo for anything, so I can't say much because I am not in your shoes. I know it hard for you to deal w/, but I do wish her the best! I know when you find the right place for her, you will know it, no matter what the cost. Please note...I am not saying anything bad....or atleast I hope it doesn't come across as sounding bad. You know I love you and you know I have always love "the girls"! |
You are mistaken, Paris was not offered to Misty for free. I refunded Misty this afternoon. I need replace Paperwork through AKC because it was filled out and is now unuseable to transfer... I drove an hour each was on three occasions to meet with her, thats 6 hours! I Bent over backward to ensure that I was doing it right. And I failed.... If you don't agree with the price I have listed I'm sorry... That price will rule out alot of homes, true! But I don't want her in a home that can't afford her. It may sound bad, but that is that... In CA if I offered her up for 600 she'd be gone in two seconds and in someones back yard being bred to death. Or snapped up by someone who may pass her around without a care. I know what I paid for her and I know that I want a home for her that is willing to do the same. I will not apoligize for that. I'm sorry. I am not going to answer any more questions... I knew it was a mistake to post this ad. I will just advertise locally. I can't read about how I am doing this wrong. This is hard enough as it is. |
OMG I LOVE her! Look a me, I'll have a farm in no time  I'm sorry, I haven't followed the story Kathryn, but is it possible this could be a temp situation and that you may be able to have her back after you get through whatever it is you are going through? Just thought I'd ask...cause I'd be able to talk my husband into THAT but if I suggest one more dog, he's gonna flip! He's already calling me "the crazy dog lady" :p Trina |

I must have read your post wrong about when Misty took her home and I am sorry for that. I know if I wanted something for something of mine, I would want the asking price......So I understand where you are coming from on that. I know I would be the same way, I am so anal about Mojo and well, about any dog in general. It is true that some places, a lower price will get no telling who calling....a higher price doesn't always mean a good home. --I am not complaining about your price at all...I just stated that my DH thought it was too much. Well, of course he did, he is a man - just joking YT fellows!!! Please keep your post up and maybe there will be a good YT home for her. But please just remember, remember your post about Chynna...you couldn't afford her and traded a ring for her.....remember how people felt about that. I wonder what the lady selling her thought about a person who couldn't afford to take her puppy home....remember what fellow YT members thought too......so, I am just concerned about Paris....that is yet. That is me...I am always more concerned w/ the dog then anything else. HUGS TO YOU!!! |

I just wanted to let everyone know that, while it wasn't the best match for our family, Paris is a wonderful dog! She is very sweet and cuddly, loves to snuggle, walks beautifully loose-leash style, and she even knows to not go into the kitchen near the stove or anything. (I have tried and tried to teach Chloe to stay out of the kitchen when I'm cooking.) |

I don't think I could do it again! lol It was ALOT of work! But still... I don't want her in a home that can't afford her, and I will find the right home.. I love ya Jen... no hard feelings... I'm very raw right now.... I hope you understand.... |

Ohh, Misty, I am soo sorry that poor Paris didn't work out...but what could you have done?! You did everything...that poor girl! And I was so hoping that she would be close by her "home" for visits too. I know that you were heartbroken, as was Kathryn!! This is always just a bad situation when this happens. Hugs to everyone!!! I am sure Kathryn will find a good loving (and hopefully) YT home for her!! |

Kathryn...this is a hard time for you....you jsut worry about finding that perfect home for sweet Paris. That girl deserves the best and she will find it. I hope she goes to a loving home here on YT so we can all see her! |
I wish I could buy her she would fit so Well with Punkin,Piper and Picasso (all P's). Hopefully we find a place to settle into in CA soon |
Kathryn, I am so sorry things didn't work out for Paris and Misty!! Paris is such a doll!! I must ask, I know you have two dogs, is Paris one of Linda's babies?? If I had the money I would snatch her up in a heatbeat. Had I known sooner I might have been able to get her but with all the costs of us moving we don't have it right now. It makes things even more tempting if she was one of Linda's babies!! I am so sorry that you have to rehome her, I know how hard it must be for you!! Sending prayers and hugs your way!! |
Maybe there will be more "lookers" tomorrow during the day....I so hope that she goes to a loving YT home. I wish I could take her....BUT we just paid to have a pool put in....which it is finally getting ready this week (FINALLY).....otherwise, I would find a way to sneak the payment to you...hee,hee...where my DH wouldn't know the price. |
