Francie, Yes. You can determine the personality of the pups as soon as they become old enough to be interactive. By noting the timing and nature of their response to certain stimuli you can be fairly accurate in judging what 'type' of pup you have. It also is key to spend a lot of time observing the way they interact with litter mates and other household members (2 and 4 legged). There is actually an excellent book on the subject written by the Monks of New Skete who breed and train German Shepherds. Of course, the consistency (or not) of the training given to the pup as it matures will greatly impact what kind of dog you end up with. Good dogs come from good owners and visa versa. Being a well trained dog owner will get you the dog you want but it helps to start with one that is, from a personality standpoint most able to adapt to your lifestyle.

You're welcome. Actually, it is a pretty old book (kinda how I feel some days) and there are loads of other newer books with good theories and excellent training suggestions more pertinent to yorks. Just the mention of the Shepherds triggered me to think of the Monks.

I've been finding that some of the e-mail I'm sending out on puppy info isn't being recieved...very frustrating, so if you were expecting to hear from me and didn't, please let me know. You can try e-mail again or call me at 610-756-6659. I apologize to anyone who thought I was ignoring them, it was not deliberate. I'm apparently just computer handicapped. Thanks, Stacy

Bella, Thanks for the welcome and what a cute name. We had a pup we called Napoleon, because he was afflicted with the complex- weighed nothin' and thought he was king of the hill. I love the spunky ones. Big thank you to the people who took the time to come visit this weekend. We really appreciate your time and thoughtfulness.

Sylvan, Actually my name is Maria. Bella(short for Isabella) is my Smooth Fox Terrier's name and General Patton's Courage, nickname Patton, is my new Yorkie I got last week. It is hard to keep up with names around here because we talk so much about our loving yorkies, lol. ~Bella, General Patton, & Maria~D

Just wanted to say congratulations to the proud new yorkie parents...I was trying to post all the pictures here, but I am completely inept in this area. So our blessings on the newest members of our extended yorkie family, Brenda, Liza, Rosa, Jerry & Liz.
