Hi..I just have to ask...LOL Sorry I don't mean to laugh. But, How do you breed a 2 1/2 lb male to a 7 lb female??? I'm setting here with this picture in my mind...of the little guy climing a ladder...:D |
Hi and welcome to YT! |
pillows, phone book, ladder, etc LOL When we bred our 3.5 male to our 5.5 female...he had to have some assistance the first time; after that he was superman!! We stacked a thick phone book and a pillow to give him the height he needed it worked great! |

My mommy has short legs she is 7lbs only because she just can't push herself away from the table..LOL. but with a Seattle phone book he had no problem. and he made 5 little ones.. Are you new to breeding yorkies? I have always bread a very small male to a larger female. Its better on the female... that is how you get the really little yorkies most of the time. |

WELCOME to YT :). This reminds me of my one and only horse. She was a Saddlebred - Arabian cross. The Stallion was the Arabian <g>. When asked how that worked, the lady from whom I got her said: "She squatted....the hussy!" ;) |
LoL thats what my little girl would do.. she would help hold him up if she could..LOL she loves her man.... But thats ok she is a great mommy too.... Thanks |

it is a funny sight. I bred my at the time 3 poundd male to my six pound dog. I had to put him on a pillow but I watched and once he got to going, his feet weren't touching anything. if you can picture that. he was hanging in the air connected only by his you knoww what and still going at it. i cracked up. |

I really thought you were going to say AI..;) I know some males hate it when you try to help them, they don't even want you in the room. When my one male was about a year old he was like that... But.. not anymore now he doesn't care who's around. My other male I think he was born humping. LOL When he was young..If you reached down to pet him..he would latch on to your arm and go to town... Anyways, Good luck with getting your babies into good homes.. |

They can be any where in the 2-1/2 lb to 7 lb range. You will not know until the dog is grown. 2 - 6 lb dogs can produce small or large pups. It all depends on what's in the lines. The only way to get close to carbon copies of the parents.. is if a person inbreeds. IMO ..You may want to do a little research first before you question the way someone breeds. Even show breeder pups can and do go out of standard sometimes. I might also add that the smallest pup can grow up to be the largest out of a litter. |

Although yes, I fully agree with you....I do NOT think people shoudl breed for extremely small dogs.:) |
I read Jen's post as an interest in breeding to standard - from what I read in this thread ....it seems the emphasis is on the tinier the better ...and that part bothers me too - yorkies are tiny enough at standard weight. I thought Show breeders strived to improve the line - which means staying within standard weights ??? |
