THANK YOU!!! I'm so sick of people saying tinies are sickly and are in the vet 24/7, I too have a tiny and she is in perfect health.. I have a friend with a 6.5 pound yorkie and is in and out of the vet all the time too... If a dog is going to be sick they are going to be sick REGARDLESS of their SIZE... |

      This is the reason I haven't been on YT in a while everyone is always jumping on people for one reason or another and especially about breeding, my GOSH.. It's like who made them the experts on breeding, because you read a few books, had a few personal experiences, my favorite I HEARD this isn't right, or have been breeding for 50+ years, so what... My experience's is there is never an expert in a certain feild there is ALWAYS something new to learn every single day... So what if she breeds a small male to a female isn't that what everyone always tells everyone to do.. God forbid if someone wants to breed a smaller female.. I'v seen 10 pound yorkies die from having babies as well as a 4-5 pound yorkies.. I look at it this way if your dog was meant to have puppies regardless of size they are going to have puppies, point blank.. And if they are going to have health problems then they are going to have health problems whether they are 2 or 10 pounds... I don't see what the big deal is all the time, if the dog is healthy and happy then so be it.. And she said she has bred in the past with this father and the pups have always been healthy, so whats wrong with that.. Wait a minute I know what the big deal is, because she said............ oh my gosh should I say it? Oh what the hell "TINY"... The thing I have a problem with is when they try to charge an arm and a leg for a small yorkie, like our good friend Jeff Dane .. As long as they sell them like other yorkies are sold for (which I believe she is) I don't see one problem with it and don't see why others should eitheir... After all she never said she was breeding show quality puppies now did she??? |
I have a tiny too. He lives with me half the time and with my parents half the time. His name's Kasey, as of 3 days ago he weighed 2 lb 2oz, per vet scale. Want to know why he was at the vet and on the scale? Because he stumbled and fell on ONE stair...the 'step down' into my parents' den, less than a foot tall, and it knocked him out cold....when he DID get up, he was shaking uncontrollably. Would that have happened with Abby, who's 5 pounds, or Cody who's 6 or Trixie who's 7? Probably not. Health wise Kasey is strong as an ox...no problems at all there. His parents were 5 and 5 1/2 pounds. His littermates are around that size as well. He isn't so big, but I would give ANYTHING if he were. Health wise there may NOT be anything wrong with a tiny, but environmentally, it's dangerous...why would you TRY to produce one that small. It's not a matter of, "oh, you just have to be careful". He's no bigger than a sneeze and he ACTS like a big dog, but he's not....he's fragile, period. Why wouldn't you want to try to avoid that?:( |

I too am sick of people saying tinies are unhealthy and they feel sorry for them. My Albert is a tiny and is VERY healthy. For crying out loud her female is 7 lbs and the male is 2 and 1/2 its not like she is breeding a 3 lb girl or smaller . We all know the male should be smaller than the female. I would love to know how many YTers out there looked for a 10+ lber when searching for their baby? I have read many times of owners being upset because their baby got too big. lol |

Special circumstances often come with extra tiny dogs. They are extremely susceptible to both hereditary and non-hereditary health problems, including birth defects that may go undetected for a long time. Other common problems may include, but are not limited to, diarrhea, vomiting, along with extra and expensive tests prior to routine teeth cleanings and surgeries. Small ones are more likely to have poor reactions to anesthesia and die from it. Tiny dogs are more easily injured by falls, being stepped on and being attacked by other dogs. These health problems nearly always result in large veterinary bills. . Please take this into consideration and make purchasing a healthy pet your top priority, not size. The “novelty” is certainly not worth the pain, heartbreak, or extra expense. Remember, all Yorkies are comparatively small just an fyi by the ytca.....they wouldn'g have printed this if there wasn't a problem. thats all i have to say |

By the way I dont see anything wrong with breeding a bigger female with a tiny male and having some of the puppies be tinys. I want a tiny in the future and thats what the breeder I am going to get mine does too. I do think it is wrong to breed tiny females to get tiny pups though |

You just have to watch how you word the post. When I tell people about YT ... The first thing I tell them is Not to say anything about T-cup, Tiny, Micro, purse puppy..etc. If they are looking for a pup or thinking about posting one for sell...:) |

This will answer all your questions :) You need to 'navigate the site' into other forums........read the sticky's in the forums and that will help you get a little more acclimated. ;) Also, I have found the 'search' button very useful. I search topics and sit back and read lots of interesting posts. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=4096 |
You don't have to be a donating member to have a picture of your yorkie under your name. Just go to User CP, then to Avatar, and upload a picture. |
