Are you breeding to get just the little yorkies?

I'm not on here very much but when I see someone get put through the ringer like this it really ticks me off. She didn't come on here and say the mom was 3 lbs and she was breeding it. Doesn't look like she's a mill with a bunch of pups for sale...... the birth went fine, the pups were a ok size at birth and sounds like they are nursing and doing well , and are very loved. What more can a person ask for? Unless I missed something is didn't look like she said 1 price for this pup and the tinest one is big bucks. I understand when people get upset about breeding just for tiny, breeding not to the standard etc. but I don't see where she said or did any of that! Her bitches's legs are on the shorter side. Big deal , she's not selling them as show prospects. Frankly some people like a bit shorter leg than the real leggie " show type yorkie" . Does that make them unhealthy? She didn't say I'll meet you at the Mcdonalds to show you the pups. I don't see where she is hiding anything. Debbie , good luck with your pups and have a great Christmas!:)

I also have a tiny and she is perfect! With a tiny you have to be extra carefull, but I would rather have a smaller Yorkie then a bigger one, but that is just me.

They can be any where in the 2-1/2 lb to 7 lb range.
You will not know until the dog is grown.
2 - 6 lb dogs can produce small or large pups.
It all depends on what's in the lines.
The only way to get close to carbon copies of the parents.. is if a person inbreeds.
IMO ..You may want to do a little research first before you question the way someone breeds. Even show breeder pups can and do go out of standard sometimes.
I might also add that the smallest pup can grow up to be the largest out of a litter.

Absolutely correct, you've been doing some studying and taken a breeding seminar.....Dr. Carmen Battaglia's, maybe? The size of the dog does not determine the size of the pups....it's genetics and linage......if you really
want to know what you get go back to the Grandsire & Granddam.....people think that breeding tinies to tines, begets tinies....we'll they're getting tines cause they're breeding too close within their lines.....

Thank you and Merry Christmas I am sorry I haven't posted on here much because of all this.. I guess I was so exsited about being a grandmommy to my furbabies I wanted to share that with My friends on Yorkietalk. My little furbabies are just to cute.. They now have there eyes open:D .

I just wanted to ask how do you find out about seminars such as the one you mention? Is there a site, are they open only to established breeders? Where else might someone interested in learning more about breeding Yorkshire terriers look? Any books that you would recommend? Thanks in advance for any information you might share.

I think its pretty sad that we need to walk on egg shells everytime we want to post something. Yes this is an open forum but geesh I see it a lot when someone says they want a smaller puppy, some people automatically jump on your throats and assume you are a bad person. We all look for certain traits in our yorkies wether it be size, color, hair texture and the list goes on. I do not see anything wrong with owning a tiny yorkie as long as it is well taken care of and not charging an arm and a leg for one. I have 2 right now that weigh about 4+ lbs and when I am ready to get my third and last one I want it to be a smaller one with short legs and I will be looking here:D

Oh and Debbie, do what you feel is right and don't let some of the people make you feel bad. Good Luck in finding a forever home for your little ones, I wish I could get one right now but ,maybe later

There's several ways to find these seminars.....you can google Dr. Battaglia's Breeding Better Dogs. He has some wonderful online reading. However, I highly recommend anyone entering the wonderful world of breeding take his class, it's marevelous. You can also do a search on canine breeding seminars. Some Kennel Clubs hold these seminars at the time they hold their dog shows. If you go on to Onofrio.com, search through upcoming shows in your area, then click onto their Premium lists....It'll tell you if the Kennel Clubs are holding any Seminars.

No, I have not gone to any seminars.
I have just been reading, and researching everything I can .
And, I paying very close attention when to what the more experienced breeders on here are saying..
I’m like a sponge.. lol
I am still researching and trying to learn more about pedigrees, and genetics.
Thanks for giving me a new lead.. I will looking into Dr Carmen Battaglia..

I could only put 4 on here, They have there eyes open now. I just love they and kiss them. I think santa should just let me keep them all.LOL if only My Big Santa (my husband) would go for it.LOL Merry Christmas
