Not successful in finding a choc. I'm so upset because my search for a female chocolate yorkie is not very good. I have been looking and looking and cannot seem to find one. I have seen male choc. yorkies for sale but the least I have found is for $1,500. The choc. females I have seen were for $3000 and up to $7,000. That's incredible. I think the most I will pay is $1,500 but I really want a female cause i have a male now., not choc. I just think the choc. is so pretty and I want a female so I can have something different, and dress her up and put bows on her, etc. :( I hardly see any advertised at all |
That's probably because they're rare.. Just like the Biewer Yorkies (they're very expensive too). As soon as you have 'rare', people are going to charge more, just like with those tiny 'teacup' babies. It's wrong, since the other color Yorkies don't meet the show standards but still are sold for substantially higher amount of money. Good luck, but I keep seeing standard colored females for 1500 or up, females are always more expensive, and I can imagine what are people charging for a chocolate female... |
Someone had a chocolate for sale about a month or so ago on here. |
This is making me hungry.:( |
Chocolate yorkie? I have never heard of that... |

LOL Chocolates should not be more expensive, they're not rare. They're not within standard. I'd wait and keep your eye on YT for reputable breeder that will not jack up the price. |

akc does not rec. chocolate yorkies they are not really "rare" or worth more they are a colour abnormality and overdose of the red gene if i'm correct kind of like a albino i guess you could somewhet compare it to! but they shouldn't be sold for a higher price than any other yorkie or advertised rare that's just a trick to jack up the prices! i say keep looking. |
I thought yorkies weren't supposed to be chocolate and aren't supposed to be breed to be chocolate colored??? |
If they aren't readily avilable then they are rare. Whether they are AKC standard or not people want them because they are different. At one time partis were not supposed to be bred either, but now AKC does register them. As long as there are no known health issues I see nothing wrong with breeding them and since people are willing to pay more breeders will charge more. |

That link was to my little Izzie. Izzie is with her forever parents now (parents of TLC here on YT). Izzie was the result of the two parents carrying the same recessive gene. Izzie was sold for less money than her littermates and spayed. She went to a wonderful loving home and it was meant to be. I was so terribly sad, but feeling so much better now, she will have a great life with them. I recieved pics today and maybe soon TLC will post some for her parents, I think it is now their place to post the pictures. Izzie is AKC registered. She is absolutely beautiful. |
I looked on puppyfind.com and there are a couple female choc. yorkies. They are sooooooooooooo cute. I saw 2 that were for about $1,200 or so and I want one of them soooo badly. So I am emailing the people and am going to see what happens....thanks ehunney! |

I think it's just the color, I heard that there are no more health problems with them than there are with any other yorkie. I may be wrong but that's what I heard. |
I don't know if there are health problems with the ones that are BRED TO BE chocolate. But in Izzie's case, she was just one of 5 in the litter and the only chocolate. That's why Izzie was spayed before going to her new home, she shouldn't be bred for her color. |

I agree, they are beautiful. Good luck in your search. Those sound like fair prices. |
chocolate color is a flaw in the genes. you should pay less not more |
I think the chocolate Yorkies are cute as can be. But can they be registered? Even if they come from two AKC Yorkies? The reason I ask is there are only 4 choices of colors for Yorkies, right? Black and Gold, Black and Tan, Blue and Gold, and Blue and Tan. So, what do the papers say if the chocolate yorkies are registered with AKC? Anyone know? |
