A Borkie is a Bichon/Yorkie. She is very adorable and loving..

Like I said, I really don't care one way or the other, and to me, mutt, mixed breed, designer dog, cross, specialty, blend, Morkie/Yorkteese, Labradoodle, however you want to put it...all mean basically the same thing...a non-pure bred dog. Doesn't mean it's bad, but you have to decribe them somehow, right? So what would be the non-offending, correct terminology?

I refer to Darla as a Borkie when people ask what she is, because that is what she is a Bichon/Yorkie. I understand how we can all call our dogs mutt in terms of endearment but the original poster wasnt using the term in that way I dont believe.

According to who? Where is that recognized as a breed? See, to you, she is a Borkie...and that's how I will refer to her now ONLY because you've told me. You recognize it because she's yours and you KNOW what she is. To the rest of us though, we don't recognize that being as it is not a recognized breed and we probably would categorize her differently.

One of my favorite breeds is my grandparents' dog Dakota...we refer to him as "Brown Mutt."

A Mutt or mix dog is that puppy coming from multiple breeds or onknown breeds or the mating of two different breeds. Anyway, I do not think someone should be offended by the word "mutt". Again, I love all animals but people should not advertise the mix of these breeds as pure dogs. They are not. This breed is not recognized by AKC or any other major kennel club! .
