AKC does not ever accept other registries except the Canadian Kennel Club and some of the registries in Europe depending on the country involved and if AKC has an agreement with them.
To be AKC registered in the US, the parents must be AKC registered and the parents cannot be limited registration meaning they are sold and registered to not be used for breeding.

From this description of their registry, it cannot verify purebred status. A registered purebred with the AKC, has the paper trail of registry of parents, grandparents etc.
Lost papers from AKC can be replaced by contacting them with the registered name of the dog.

Hi Lorraine,
I agree, I believe it appears to have been started by people who WANT this to become a 'recognized' registry and for people who WANT to say their dog is 'registered' and as long as people buy into this, it shall go on to become something some gullible people may think is legitimate.

Exactly and that is the case with registries in the US other than AKC. I don't know much about UKC but I believe any dog or puppy registered with them must have the papertrail of registration with UKC to be able to register a dog or puppy OR the dog or puppy must be AKC registered. UKC I believe, also recognizes Canadian Kennel Club registration (not to be confused with Continental Kennel Club) because Canadian Kennel Club also requires parents to be CKC registered or AKC registered. Canadian Kennel Club does not recognize these other registries in the US, it also recognizes bona fide registries of some foreign countries again, ones they have agreements with.
The proper paperwork must be submitted to CKC for them to CKC to register that puppy including the registration of the foreign country and an official pedigree from that registry.
