| Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | You can reply to anyone anytime. Are yorkies in S. Africa different than here ? I saw you bought a chocolate - did you get him there or is he being shipped ? The reason I ask is because aren't there breeders there who WILL sell to you without having to go out of the country ? |

| South Africa looks very organized. Here is the link for the Kennel Union of South Africa. http://www.kusa.co.za/home.php according to the info on that site, the shows in S. Africa are under FCI the same rules etc as in Europe. They are well respected. Start there, find local dog clubs and local breeders who are willing to help you get started showing. You said you have been to shows, why didn't you talk to local breeders. My bet is that you would hve to convince them that your itentions are honourable which is the case in any country. If you are not willing to show, then how would you know what a decent Yorkie looks like? No one will sell you a quality Yorkie for this type of breeding, no matter what country you are in. Your original post said you were looking for stud dogs to breed that were to standard. From your posts following it doesnt' sound you know what the standard is as you bought a chocolate Yorkie not realizing it is an incorrect colour. If you bought him for pet, have him neutered at the appropriate time but I have no idea why you would buy him if you want to breed if your best interest is for the YOrkie breed. |

I bought the chocolate one because he is cute and it is the first time I saw one. As far as the breeding is concerned, I am not trying to kid anybody. There are reputable breeders in South Africa from whom I bought pups some years ago. The fact is that many breeders (not only yorkies but other breeds too) sometimes import blood lines of champion dogs to better their own. This is exactly what I am trying to do. Since I have no contact with breeders abroad that have bread champions whether it be national or international champions, I hoped I would find some assistance on this board. At this stage it is clear that most on this board do not take me seriously. Therefore, I will seek help elsewhere.

The other thing that came to my mind is we have such a huge problem with puppy mills. I'm not saying you - but our country has it's share of unethical breeders....I think your request took people by surprise & there is bound to be skeptics on ANY board you go to.

| You need to anderstand many breeder's here in the U.S.A are not willing to ship there dog's from one state to another.Thats why many buyers fly to the breeders to pick up the dog.But in your case the distance would make this impossible,i gess. I do not partake in any puppy mill. This was one of the reasons I joint the board because I wanted to avoid that. After long searches on the internet I came accross a website with a list of banned breeders. This made me think I would be better off finding a breeder thru the board. | |

| Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | Now I understand....and I THINK if that was said in the beginning maybe you'd have had a better reception - from what I just saw from Lorraine's link - S. Africa has Beautiful yorkies already........Well - good luck to you |

It's difficult enough for people here to get quality yorkies and get started in the show ring.....and these people know these top reputable breeders.

I know there are some very nice yorkies and breeders in your country. I've imported myself (into the US, not out) and speak only for myself. Good luck to you in your search. Everyone just wants to know that all is legit. I wish you the best and hope you'll stick around because there is alot more on this board. Once you get to know people a little better you might like it.

| Peeka Boo I See You! Donating Member | I just want to say here at YT we put our babies first and this is a very touchy subject. The reason you got some of the negative responses was because like V said if you would've posted more in detail about your situation it probably wouldn't have escalated so far but another thing is we see everyday about someone getting scammed and to be honest a lot of the scammers are over sea in Africa so you need to understand we are not only looking out for the Yorkie breed but also our family here at YT. Please understand we are a wonderful community with a lot of wonderful knowledge and support but we sometimes feel so strongly our opinions are a little harsher than we expect it doesn't make us bad we are just passionate. I welcome you to YT and if you are going to breed i say just really look into and know a lot before you start also mabe you can find a breeder at the show ring who would be willing to mentor you i wish you luck and hope you can understand why we are so passionate here.

| YT members need to STOP attacking new people when they come on this board for help what is wrong with everyone. I thought we were here to help not attack, attack, thats all I see most of the time when new people come on. My GOSH!!! can't we all just get along and throw the anger out the window. I know personal lives may not be so good but come on guys you don't need to take it out on the newbies.

| And I say again, you have the links to find good breeders in your country. Start there and establish yourself as a good show breeder. YOu will have a much better reception from reputable show breeders if and once you establish yourself as a reputable show breeder. It takes work and dedication. You are not going to find any reputable show breeders that have busted their butts in the show rings to produce some excellent representatives of the breed for the show rings too keen on just shipping a dog to somone unknown in another country. You will also find the reputable show breeder is not keen to have a stud dog of theirs sent somewhere just to breed and produce puppies. Personally, I don't ship anything anywhere except a birthday card once in a while to friends. None of my puppies are ever for sale elsewhere as there are many good homes right here. |
