| Help: Reputable breeder in West Coast I had horrible experience last time buying a puppy from Tiny Yorkie Kisses puppy mill. My partner and I are still grieving but we started to research on reputable breeders in west coast. We want a healthy, AKC, dam&sire OFA certified yorkie puppy. We live in SF but we are willing to travel for the perfect one! There are so many byb and puppumills, please help us! It is okay if the breeders dont have a pup at the moment, we can wait! All we want is a breeder who actually cares about furbabies! Thank you so much everyone!

| If I recall correctly, starting your search at AKC is one of the recommended routes. |

| American Kennel Club - The Dog's Champion - American Kennel Club Dog Breeders - American Kennel Club https://www.apps.akc.org/apps/classi...ding_breed.cfm https://www.apps.akc.org/apps/classi...arch/index.cfm The search results probably don't carry with the links I popped in above.... play with their site a bit.... 139 yorkie breeders were shown.... but they were all over the country even though I punched in 50 miles from a San Fran zip code. There is a lot of info available from their site. Some prep stuff to learn before getting your pup, some care stuff... clunky access but decent stuff to read. |

| How do you know she want s to breed? I looked at her past posts and did not see any posts a such. If that is the case, finding a reputable breeder that will sell will be difficult.

| I would first try the breeder referral list for the YTCA. Dog Breeders Map List- The Yorkshire Terrier Club of America I have heard some positive reviews for CynThia Landry. She breeds Yorkies and Maltese. http://www.scruffystoydogs.com/AboutMe.htmlS I hope you find the baby of your dreams.

| Some things that indicate a reputable breeder: 1) Interviews the prospective owners, usually has a questionnaire for you to fill out. 2) Usually has a waiting list that can stretch from 6 months to several years, because her dogs are in demand.....no advertising necessary, word of mouth is invaluable. 3) Shows a knowledge of the dog's lines...pedigrees....will be more knowledgeable than just the parents of the litter. 4) Has a contract that specifies how long the pup is "guaranteed"....contract will specify exactly what will constitute money being returned to buyer in the event of illness/death of the puppy......usually specifies breeder is to be contacted immediately if there is any issue with the baby. A responsible, respected breeder will assist you with any puppy that she sells you that is sick, with information, help, guidance, and even refunds/another baby, according to her contract. 5) May actually want contact at least once a year with new owners, just to track how her babies are doing and being made aware of any vet visits that were necessary. My Rosehill Family contacts me around Christmas, with a precious pic of the baby, a very short update on any issues encountered during that year....important information to keep me updated on any health issues at all... 6) Breeder will probably want vet references about you...dont be offended....there are many vets that take care of Yorkies that have NO idea of the special requirements and or adjustments needed when dealing with yorkies. Don't be offended if the breeder actually contacts your vet to see if you do indeed take care of your pups. This just scratches the surface of what a reputable, respected breeder will require and expect from anyone buying her babies. |

| I don't personally know either of them except for what I read here, but a Google search of Yorkietalk brings up favorable reviews for Cynthia Landy, and a regular Google search brought up positive reviews in Maltese forums (I'm not a member of them). Cynthia Landry - Google Search http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/cal...ther-cali.html

| On Cynthia, looks like one person had a bad experience and she posted the same bad review every where(yelp included) AND, she never got into specifics or answered questions when asked what was wrong with the dog.... I'd nearly disregard that negative review since everything else looks kosher. There was a good breeder in Oregon, I can't recall her name.. She used to post here, maybe check the breeder section. |
