I have obtained yorkies from many places and sometimes yes there were great expenses and sometimes not. This forum is very conservative because many of these members have seen a tremendous amount of heartache and helped members through some very sad and unfortunate issues and sometimes this occurred out of ignornace and so they are strong proponents of informed and prepared ownership of Yorkies. You would be surprised at the length they will go to supporting the parents of a furbaby in crisis. I have had someone from across the country help me with illnesses that 3 vets failed to diagnose. They always have your back but they are very concerned about ownership of Yorkies because of their collective experience. I am sure that since you have owned a small dog, you are aware of the many issues and expenses. I hope you find just the right Yorkie for you and never give up. Originally, she was just going to be fostered with me and a new home located. That didn't work out. She has turned out to be one of the best Yorkies we have ever had in our family. As if we've had her from a pup. They pay you back ten fold when they know you've rescued them. She has become my best friend, traveling in our car with us, walking, and sleeping with us etc. She listens probably better the any we've had, and shows such love and devotion. I can't say much more or reccomend any higher to adopt a little older Yorkie. We now believe Gianna is probably between 3 -5 years old. You would not know for a minute we did not have her as a pup and I would do it all over again, adopt an older Yorkie rather then a pup. Best of luck. Elaine

I am a breeder. I have more than $400.00 invested in each baby in a litter, before they are even born. MY MAIN CONCERN is strictly for the puppy....that being said, it is inconcieveable to me that a reputable breeder can sell her babies for $350.00....it may happen, but the odds are highly against it. ANYTIME I see someone wanting to purchase a Yorkie for minimal amount of expense, I ALWAYS direct them to rescues. These precious dogs are everything and so much more, than the post above elaborates on. You will do so much better getting a rescue for the amount of money you are restricted to, than taking your chances on getting a cheap, under priced pup of questionable health and back ground. Besides, it is a lot of these BYB, $350.00 puppies that end up kicked to the curb or abandoned when they dont sell right away, and they end up as rescues. I would really suggest and encourage you to contact a rescue for your Yorkie....you will be pleasantly surprised with the outcome......and you will make some precious dlittle Yorkie so thankful.

One time I had gotten two year old dogs, they would not get out of my car to go inside. After a while I managed to get them out and they bolted into the woods. I eventually got them back and they would not do anything but sit in a corner. I decided to take them back to their original place...A couple years later I decided to try again and rescue another dog. After a while everything seemed fine. He was great with cats and everyone. A very smart doggy too! I don't if he had gotten mad or what but he bit me on the hand when I went to give him food. He had never did that before. I eventually decided to give him back too. Things weren't working out. So I bought my first puppy for $150. She was a sweet as can be a true cuddlebug. She is still here with me and I love very much. No health problems and very smart. I have had her since 12 weeks- 4 years and counting I wouldn't get rid of for any money in the world.

How unfortunate your rescue did not give you some kind of preparation or instructions on how to facilitate a rescue pup's adjustment into a totally new surrounding and family....those poor babies....I can imagine they were obviously absolutely terrified.....and needed some patience and understanding to get them adjusted in their new surroundings. Hopefully, the next person that took them worked with them and helped them overcome their fear and sense of abandonment. Congratulations on your $150.00 puppy....continued well wishes for her good health.
