| Yorkies in Colorado? Hello, everyone! Like everyone on here, I love this breed and am ready to raise, love, cuddle, spoil, train, walk, and enjoy one of my own. My family is happy and patient and familiar with the breed as my sister and cousin both own them plus I've talked to many owners at dog parks and pet stores. Does anyone know of some breeders in Colorado. I have looked around but would love opinions from you guys. Thanks! |

| Check out the YTCA.org Breeder Referral List. A great place to start. However, there are a few breeders in New Mexico too.

| The YTCA referral page is a great place to start. I am familiar with the area, and know several very reputable breeder/exhibitors in Colorado. What area do you live? (Feel free to PM me!) |

| If you're interested, there's a big dog show next weekend in Denver at the National Western Complex. It's the biggest show in Colorado of the year. You can view the judging pannel onlilne at http://www.onofrio.com/jp/PLUM1JP.pdf. Scroll down to page 16 and Yorkies are at the bottom of the alphabetical list. I think it cost $5 for admission. |

| I'm happy your experience with Karen's Yorkies was a positive one. When we lived in CS and got our first yorkie 4 years ago we talked to Karen and were very put off by our conversation with her; I would not recommend her. On her website, she claims to be a "small yorkie breeder," but she brags that her studs are 2-3 pounds and lists 21 different dams. The tinier the puppy, the higher the price and she always has puppies available. She ships anywhere in the US, takes Paypal and sells on an open registration - all huge red flags for me. Maybe I am crazy. I might pay $3000 for a prospective show dog, but not for a puppy priced so high just because it will be tiny. I suggest the OP take the recommendation of researching breeders carefully and starting with the YTCA website.

I just want to clarify that the website does not advertise her willingness to sell on an open registration, but when we spoke to her 4 years ago we definitely had the conversation.
